    Cities Service Oil Co. is a gas company that started in 1910. The company changed its name to CITGO in 1965, was purchased by Occidental Petroleum in 1982, and they sold it to the Southland Corporation in 1983. A Bolivian company, Petróleos de Venezuela, purchased half the shares in 1986, and acquired the other half in 1990. Their company PDV America, Inc. still controls CITGO today.

    Cities Service Oil Co. has a presence in comics, because they published several promotional comics in the 1950's and 1960's, most of which starred a character named Eager Beaver.
