Christian Gossett's first work in comics was a creator owned series in an anthology magazine. TALES OF THE NINJA WARRIORS was released in 1988 by CFW publishing. Gossett's series BLACK ANGEL, ran for sixteen issues and was followed by STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI for Dark Horse. Leaving comics to work for ACTIVISION, inc. as a concept designer, Gossett returned to Dark Horse for STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI - REDEMPTION. After REDEMPTION, Gossett once again worked in Film, TV and Videogames. These jobs sustained the artist while he planned his next series, THE RED STAR. First released by Image Comics in June, 2000, THE RED STAR is acknowledged as the first successful integration of computer generated images onto the american comic book page. Previous experiments had been made, most of them critical and commercial failures. Even among the more successful uses of digital artwork up until that time, the digitally enhanced images were infrequently spaced throughout the work. THE RED STAR was quite different. In the Diamond Previews catalogue that solicited its first issue, there was only one other title that could be considered anywhere near as technologically advanced. By the time of the first Red Star TPB, BATTLE OF KAR DATHRA'S GATE, Marvel and DC were both publishing titles designed to compete with Gossett's innovations. Nominated for five Eisner awards, the series was also included in WIZARD magazine's "Top 100 Graphic Novels of All Time" list.
