    CHEW 33

Tony Chu is still on his one man mission to kill the Vampire Cibopath. In this adventure, Tony joins the Navy!

    The Good

Seeing Tony Chu back in action is great. Sure it was fun to see his twin-sister Toni as the temporary lead of the series and learn more about her, while Tony was recuperating from Major League CHEW. However, now we are seeing a new type of Tony Chu. Having found out about his sister's death really pushed Tony over the edge to bring the Vampire Cibopath to justice. This is great to see. As in the beginning of this series, Tony had little backbone and usually let anyone walkover him, but now he's in control.

This issue brings back nostalgic memories of issue 18 with the cover, some of the scenes, and dialogue in this comic. John Layman did a great job at adding those elements, however making sure that they did not seem repetitive from issue 18.

Things are really going to get intense since Tony Chu now knows the plans of the Vampire Cibopath after killing, then biting, his Russian informant. With that event taking place, the story is going to become even more intense with the anticipated fight between Tony and the Vampire.

Rob Guillory's artwork on this issue is still one of the best joys of picking up this comic. His artwork adds to the dark comedy of this series and he just pays attention to the detail of all the characters and locations. Without his work, it would be a boring and colorless adventure.

    The Bad

The issue starts off a bit slow and adds the unnecessary love triangle scene between John Colby, Mike Applebee, and Director Penya. Other than that the issue was great.

    The Verdict

This series is best suited for those with A: a strong liking of new things, other than superheroes, B: people with a strong love of food, and finally C: a strong stomach. Having cannibalistic powers may seem disgusting to most, however John Layman and Rob Guillory have really shaped this series and it'll be sad to see it leave once it hits 60. However, until then lets just enjoy the trip that John and Rob have created on this journey. The story and artwork were great, the story has raised to a new level with Tony's revelation of the Vampire's true plan, and this is the perfect time for new readers to jump on. 3 out of 5.
