Giving You A 2nd Helping, Since You Can't Resist!

Yes, issue 27 WAS released last year (2011 for those who are reading this in the future, future) as just a test showing future events that was going to transpire in CHEW. After the release of Chew issue 26 last month (May 23, 2012, for those who are reading this review in the future), John and Rob have released this book in the correct order. Plus, John Layman and Rob Guillory have added the, A View To Phil, story which was released at Hero Comics 2011.

    The Good

    No Caption Provided

John Layman and Rob Guillory deliver a great follow-up story on Toni Chu. With more revelation on Toni's character and powers in issue 26, we already know she is a Cibovoyant (one that can get impressions of future events) and not a Cibopath (one that can see the past). The story and the pace of this issue flowed at an excellent rate. There was a good amount of action and story telling, and neither overpowered the other. Writer John Layman and artist Rob Guillory really know how to capture the uniqueness and individuality of the characters and also tell an extremely comedic story.

The artwork was brilliant. The colors flow from panel to panel and the character designs are perfect. Rob Guillory is a great artist and he and John Layman have created a great Chew issue. The 5 page a View To Phil that came out at hero comics in 2011 was a great add to this 2nd helping edition of Chew 27.

    The Bad

Nothing is wrong with this book.

    The Verdict

It's Not Illegal To Read This Book! So read this Book!
It's Not Illegal To Read This Book! So read this Book!

This is one of the most original books that you could EVER read, you should be reading it. The writing and artwork is amazing as usual, and it sets the playing field up for what will happen to Tony next, since he's probably going to get kidnppaed by the Vampire Cibopath. Anyway, pick the book up if you've been a loyal fan of the series and also if you are new to the world of CHEW pick up the hardcovers at your local comic book store.

      A PSYCHEDELIC TRIP 0

So, a funny thing happened with me and Chew #27. I only caught up with the series about two issues ago, so I wasn't planning on picking up the old, early released #27 and just wait for the chronological release. But after getting #26, I happened to find the old #27 in the midst of a '$25 FIll a Long Bin' sale, and I couldn't resist. What followed is something that shows INCREDIBLE planning, #27 was written EXACTLY in line with the preceeding #26, clearly Layman has things planned out to a T prett...

Highly Recommended!John and Rob take a daring bet with this "future" issue. It makes complete sense knowing how good these guys are with their storytelling. The thrill for me will be "verifying" that this issue actually fits within the overall perfect continuity that they have had so far. I did find it interesting that they thought they would be at Issue 27 in April 2012, which will likely not be the case, given that it is late February 2012 and we are waiting on Issue 24. :) But hey, anything i...
