Cheetara

Cheetara is a the only adult female Thundercat and is very brave and caring. Her powers consist of a “sixth sense” which detects when there is danger about or if evil is close by. Cheetara regards her sixth sense as a curse because it allows her to have visions whether by her will or not, which can leave her very weak and she may need days to recover. She also has super-speed and can run at 120 mph, but could only do so for short periods of time, and she is very fast in hand to hand combat. She also carries a bo staff that can grow into various sizes and is attached to her armband when not used.

2011 Series

Synopsis

A re-vamped, younger Cheetara (around early twenties) has returned in the remake of Thundercats where she is the last living Cleric. Cheetara is first seen coming to Lion-O's aid when he fights a couple of goons in the slums of Thundera. During Lion-O's sword ceremony, Cheetara is one of the clerics that presented the Sword of Omens to Lion-O. She was later seen helping Lion-O and Tygra fight an angry mob who were threatening two lizardmen who were falsely accused. During the attack on Thundera, she was fighting on the field as Jaga's clerics but was eventually captured. Lion-O and Tygra manage to free Cheetara and are surprised that the cleric they saved was her. Cheetara was told by Jaga that it was her duty to watch and guard Lion-O. Cheetara now accompanies both Lion-O and Tygra on their journey to find the Book of Omens and stop Mumm-Ra along with the Thunderkittens Wilykit and Wilykat, and Panthro. Upon finding the Book of Omens, the team realizes that in order to stop Mumm-Ra, they must unite the animals and find all the stones of power. Cheetara is in a relationship with Tygra.

History

Cheetara was an orphan and had no clan. During her younger years she met Tygra on guard duty and asked where she could find the Cleric's building. Tygra stumbled his words and she runs off looking for the building herself, but Tygra catches and tells her where she can find it. She gets in telling Jaga she is the fastest cat he will ever meet. Jaga lets her take the test and she speeds through the Cleric's high speed training circuit but gets caught at the last one which was a test of patience. Jaga tells her she lacks the patience and sends her outside. She claimsthat she will wait in which she does and she receives a special flower from Tygra called the Day Astrid.The flower is said to have a day of life in each petal and Cheetara fed off the petals for sustenance as she sat in front of the Clerics building. After days of sitting in front of the building, she collapses of malnourishment. Because of this, Jaga believes she has the patience and brings her in to begin her training as a cleric.

Current Events

The Thundercats end up finding one of the stones, the Spirit Stone, and they defeat Mumm-Ra this round and Grune. There is a celebration as they come one step closer to their goal. Elsewhere, Tygra stands alone as Cheetara visits him, he proclaims he respects her choice for Lion-O. She reveals she was not very clear with her feelings as she pulls out the heart of the Day Astrid Tygra gave her all those years ago. She thanks him for the kindness he showed her back then and the two share a kiss creating a relationship between them. The team continues to battle Mumm-Ra striving for the next stone and dealing with Mumm-Ra's new generals, Addicus and Kaynar.

Personality

Cheetara is the most emotionally mature of the team and generally the most humble and sensitive. Her personality contrasts the bold and fearless Lion-O, the cocky and competitive Tygra, the battle hardened Panthro, and the immaturity of the Thunderkittens. Out of the group she also seems to be the most supportive of Lion-O and has been shown on a few occasions talking with him and helping him when he was down or needed encouraging. She goes so far as to the berate Tygra and Panthro for their lack of faith in Lion-O.

Powers and abilities

Cheetara still possesses her super speed, agility and reflexes. A top limit is not yet known for her speed, but she casually blitzes multiple opponents on a regular basis before they can react. She ran through a tunnel full of large buzz saws with ease and has caught up to Tygra and Lion-O racing in the Thunder tank's motorcycles. She also possesses enhanced strength. Cheetara has shown she can toss multiple opponents around with ease, break into boulders, and move what appeared to be a few thousand pounds of stone all with a single hit of her staff. She was also strong enough to clash weapons with Mumm-Ra's powerful general, Addicus, without being overpowered and shatter metal shackles with a chop like attack. Cheetara also possesses enhanced durability. The degree of it though seems to be less than the older males of the group by a fair margin. The new Cheetara seems to have the benefit of not having the old Cheetara's weakness of only being able to run fast in short bursts. Cheetara is an excellent fighter with her staff and in hand to hand combat as she served as a protector of the king in his royal guard squad, the Clerics. Even though Cheetara is skilled in hand to hand combat, she heavily prefers her staff in fights. Cheetara is said to fight very disciplined but she has a repetitive attack pattern. Also like most other cats, she has an enhanced sense of smell.

As a cleric taught by Jaga, Cheetara possesses extensive knowledge in magic. She is shown explaining what the Astral Plane is and knowing what Sight Beyond Sight is and the key to mastering it. However, Cheetara has shown she can sense various types of magic and can break certain spells like barriers for example like she did to Jaga's with her own magic capabilities. She has shown no sign of her sixth-sense precognition ability like the original Cheetara possessed. Whether or not this new Cheetara has it has yet to be seen.

Equipment:

• Cleric's Garment (Former): The standard garment of the Cleric's. It is a long white robe with a cat head-shaped helmet and shoulder guards to offer some added protection to the head and shoulders.
• Cleric's Staff (Former): The standard staff used by the clerics. It is a staff made out of some highly durable wood as Cheetara has struck through large slabs of stone without it breaking. When not in use, she kept it in a holster on lower back. The staff's main feature is its ability to elongate and shorten to the user's will. This staff was broken in a fight with Viragor.
• Staff of Viagor: Cheetara's current staff given to her by Viragor. The staff is mystical in nature allowing Cheetara to create large tree roots that extend from the staff that can easily rip through the ground and stone and can toss around multiple foes. Cheetara can extend smaller roots from the staff that engulf around objects such as opponents weapons. An example of this would be if she was at a clash of weapons with an opponent, she can grow roots where her staff made contact with opponent's weapon and grab her opponent's weapon. The staff can grow branches on itself and grow leaves that are used as projectiles which Cheetara can launch off the staff. The leaves that it fires are sharp enough to pierce solid stone. This staff has shown the extending and shortening abilities of the previous staff and Cheetara keeps it in the previous staff's holster on her lower back.
