Synopsis
Charlie's latest scheme is to be a fortune-teller. He realizes that he is terrible at it, but Mortimer tells him that he should check out the real deal downtown. Charlie does and visits Swami Salami. The swami makes a bold prediction that a ship will be named after Charlie. Charlie can't believe it so the swami takes down Charlie's contact information just in case he comes up with something else.
Swami Salami gives Charlie's information to Captain Epsom, a ship captain looking for a crew for his severely dilapidated ship. (Nobody wants to join his crew for fear of the ship sinking.) The captain fools Charlie into thinking that his ship will be named after Charlie, but when Charlie and Mortimer show up, they are forced to be part of the captain's crew. Even worse, the first mate Big Moose is ordered to keep the boys busy and he constantly catches the two goofing around.
The boys eventually find a diving suit and reckon that their ship is aimed at finding buried treasure. The truth of the matter is, however, that the captain is out to reclaim his lost false teeth. Once word gets out, the crew starts murmuring and talking about a mutiny. Big Moose hears the threats and informs Captain Epsom. The captain then tricks Charlie into dressing like the captain to trick the crew. It works, the crew sees Charlie as the captain and chase he and Mortimer off the ship.
The boys wash ashore an island. They quickly meet with some very unfriendly natives who take the boys to their chief. The chief is hungry and decides to cook the two right away. Before he can, however, a plane lands on the island. Charlie pretends that he has magical powers by waiving his arms around, as if he is summoning the plane (which the cannibals believe is a big bird). The chief freaks out but does not let Charlie and Mortimer go until Charlie does one more trick. Charlie, having seen a frog under a hat, orders the hat to start hopping around. On cue, the frog underneath starts hopping and the cannibals run away in fear. The boys find the plane and hitch a ride home.
At home, Charlie wonders aloud about the possibility of using their new frog friend, Hercules, in a frog legs business venture. Hercules runs away until Charlie takes it all back.
