Charley Bourne is the principle character in the seminal British comic strip, "Charley's War", a realistic, grim, blackly humourous and heartbreaking account of the First World War told through the eyes of a young working class lad doing his duty. Appearing in the late 1970s, Pat Mills, writer and Joe Colquhoun, artist, created an astonishing storyline where regular characters died against the backdrop of the real events of the so called Great War.
