Catwoman In Rome
Catwoman decides to get out of Gotham City for a while and take a trip to Rome. She heads to Rome with a purpose that relates to the Falcone crime family but she finds herself in over her head very quickly.
My Thoughts:This is another comic by the Eisner Award-winning team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. This story takes place after The Long Halloween and right before Dark Victory.
Loeb's storytelling was in full effect as he progresses the story along nicely adding a few plot twists along the way. What I enjoyed in this story was the added humor he brought, particularly Catwoman and the Riddler's dialogue. They had a few funny moments that came off very organic. Nothing in this story felt forced, it all flowed very smoothly together until the final page.
Tim Sale's artwork is even better than it was in The Long Halloween. He designs some nicely constructed panels showcasing Catwoman's acrobatic skills as well as all her sassiness and attitude. Dave Stewart's colors were a perfect fit for this comic. He has to be one of the best colorists in the comic industry. I loved the watercolor style he used. It matched with the tone of the city very well.
This is another great comic from this acclaimed comic team that deserves a spot in your collection. Not only that but we get to see a different side of Catwoman while learning a little about her history. Add in some humor and great artwork and this comic is a winner. Question: Who are Catwoman's parents? Answer: You'll have to read to find out.
