Cats! Babies! and Stand Ins! Oh my!

For a first issue, I believe the writers did an excellent job. Th storyline is quite a complex one to walk into with as much as grace as they did. Not to mention the fact that I was not outraged that Catwoman was not Selina is proof alone of how much of an outstanding job these guys did.

The issue starts off giving us a look into Selina's new life as we witness the birth of her child. As the plot continues, the real story begins as our ever so inexperienced Catwoman begins work on her first new job. This is where I feel the writers true strength really shined. For many years we have seen Selina break and enter with unmatched grace, having such a drastic change with this new Catwoman is not only pleasant and enjoyable to see these struggles, but Holly, also is full of personality, something I feel may stand ins in comics lack. This is what I would say is the big positive. Holly is so excellently characterized by the writers, when you add that the villain is one from Catwoman's past, it only becomes more intriguing. A new Catwoman with an old villain I think offers just the right amount of balance readers need when they are thrown into one of the most extreme changes to Catwoman's storyline ever. I applaud the excellence offered here.

Overall this issue offers a whole lot of good. As I stated earlier Holly's excellent writing, and the renewal of an old villain, with a bone to pick with Selina, is quite an interesting plot in itself. The biggest negatives here are, that for me personally I think Selina was a little to watered down. She may be a mom, but she was still Catwoman, I am sure it is just because the writers wanted her to fit the roll, and especially in the first issue give us this new impression of her, but I think we all would still like to see a little more of the old Selina. The only other negative for me is more of a preference, while the cover art is incredible, the interior art is far from my favorite, this is, as I said more of an opinion than a fact. The issue is very good and I recommend it to both old Catwoman fans as well as new readers.
