    Can't Catch A Break

Writer Judd Winick continues his fast-paced run on Catwoman where an impulsive Selina continues to find herself in over her head and barely making it out of these situations alive and in once piece.

After being thrown half a mile into the air at the end of last months issue, Catwoman scrambles to think of a way out of her predicament. After barely surviving and sustaining serious injuries (dislocated shoulder), Catwoman somehow manages to overpower and defeat Reach with minimal effort. After putting some distance between herself and Reach, she finds out the bag she got away with has way more money than she thought it contained ($425,000). Against her better judgement, Selina decides to splurge a little and enjoy a nice day at a massage parlor…or so she thought. The cops were able to track her there and Selina frantically tries to escape. She is pursued and eventually cornered by the police.

We see the Gotham police become more involved in the story this issue. It appears as if Detective Alvarez is the "good cop" who I'm guessing at one point will aid Catwoman in some way while the other group of Detectives all appear to be dirty.

I continue to enjoy Guillem March's work on this series. I like the way he draws female characters, particularly Catwoman. I loved his work on Gotham City Sirens and his work here rivals the work he did . The only small complaints I had was the way the villain Reach looked in one panel. The page where she was hovering outside the construction site, her face looked a bit weird. The double-paged spread of Catwoman on her motorcycle towards the end of the issue wasn't that great either. It's not bad, but it was a bit noisy for my taste, what with all the lettering of cop sirens throughout the pages. It was a bit much. Aside from that a lot of the panels are quite stunning.

I'm left with somewhat mixed feelings after finishing this months issue of Catwoman. On one hand, it didn't exactly blow me away. On the other, it wasn't bad by any means. I can't say it left me excited for the next issue. I know Batman is set to appear in the next issue but one can only hope he doesn't have to continue to come and save this series so frequently.

    Rating: 3/5

I am a little torn on this issue.  There is a decent amount of stuff going on, and we do get to see a lot of traditional Selina, but the end also elicits one of the worst overall story arcs in the history of the character.  The issue breaks down roughly into three segments.  In the first Selina must figure a way out of her predicament as she has been launched several thousand feet into the air.  This leads to a decent resolution, and leads into the second part where Selina gets to act like Selin...

SummaryJudd Winick’s series of Catwoman maintains it breakneck pace as Selina, after last week’s encounter with the meta-human “Reach”, hurtles 50,000 feet (or thereabouts) towards solid ground. This month’s instalment also begins to tie the sub-story concerning the GCPD into our main narrative, which comes to a head at the end of the issue. What I liked· Selina is not perfect: If you have read some of my other reviews, you’ll know that I don’t like it when our protagonist is a living, breathing ...
