Catapult was sent along with Mustang to locate and recruit the newest victim of the Theta virus: Timothy Halloran. However, they were both defeated by Bruut and Bloodbath. Bruut was also knocked out in the struggle, but Bloodbath took Halloran to Malcolm Kort. When they awakened they tried and failed to stop Bruut.
Catapult and the rest of the Exiles then tried to rescue Halloran from Kort, but Halloran mutated into Mastodon and broke free just as they arrived. Catapult helped subdue Mastodon long enough for Deming to nearly talk him down, but Mastodon panicked and fled once again when he heard approaching sirens. Catapult tried to throw him against the ceiling to stun him, but he hit a skylight instead, and escaped.
Catapult returned to the Stronghold with the rest of the group, and was caught in the explosion caused by the interaction between Amber Hunt and the Entity from the Moon. His spine was broken when he was knocked against a building, and he suffered sufficient head trauma to knock him into a coma.
