Reed and MIles goes to the 616 universe
We open the issue with Monica Chang standing in front of the parallel universe portal with a huge gun, ready to shoot anything that comes through. Suddenly, Miles crash through the portal, his costume all torn up, saying ”he is coming”.
Cut to 25 minutes ago, we see the Ultimates are still bickering on whether to send Reed through the portal with Miles or not. Tony takes Miles to the side, and gives him a repulsor weapon he made, and tells Miles to shoot Reed with it, if he even goes slightly out of line of the mission they´re being sent on.
Miles and Reed go through the portal, and enter the Baxter Building and this universe counterpart of Reed´s lab with ease. On the way there, Reed is fascinated by all the similarities and differences of this universe.
They gather the files on Galactus from the computer as Valeria(the daughter of Reed and Sue of the main Marvel Universe) walks in on them both, thinking its her dad, but when she notices it´s not, she quickly gets suspicious, and activates the buildings defense mechanisms. Reed tells Miles to hurry up and go, and take the files with him. Miles hurry ups and leave, but not before being slightly injured by a couple of Baxter Building robots. On his way back, he also bumps into the Superior Spider-Man, apologizing to him, thinking its really Peter Parker. Otto, asks loudly what the hell is going on.
We then cut back to the scene which was close to the beginning of the issue, where Miles stumble through the portal. Reed follows shortly after that, and tells Susan what he saw, and apologizes to her. The issue ends with an establishing shot of the outside world and the critical state it is in.
Another great issue of the mini series. Now they have what they need to defeat Galactus, let´s just not hope they are too late. The most intresting character this issue is without a doubt Reed Richards. After having been a villain for so long in the Ultimate Universe, it´s fascinating to once again see this more sympathetic side to him, which was buried deep down in him, all this time.
Miles felt a little underused in the issue, but he was probably overwhelmed going back to the main Marvel Univserse. It was fun to see Valeria, and I chuckled at her choice of password for activating the buildings defenses. It´s little things like that, that makes an issue great. Otto´s cameo felt largely superfluos, but I guess it was needed to show that it takes place in the current main Marvel Universe. Art by Bagley was great as usual. Don´t really have anything more to say than that.
PS! The cover is full of lies. The X-Men don´t appear in as much as a panel of this issue.
