The star of the wildly successful Ally McBeal is returning to television and she'll be making her mark playing Cat Grant on the upcoming Supergirl television show on CBS, according to Entertainment Weekly.

McBeal's part as Grant will be Kara Zor-El's boss and a self-made woman who founded CatCo. Grant started her career as a reporter and eventually built her company into a something huge. Kara, played by Melissa Benoist, will work for Grant as her assistant.

The essence of the character is there as Grant was originally a freelance gossip columnist for the Daily Planet. Her first appearance was back in 1986 in THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #424. This isn't the first time Cat Grant has appeared on television though. Tracy Scoggins played her on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Keri Lynn Pratt played Grant on Smallville.

The pilot has been ordered for the show but at this time, there's no news for when it will air.

I honestly don't see it. Her face just doesn't feel like Cat Grant. At least she is white, so I can not like the casting without being called a racist.

This whole CatCo thing doesn't set well with me. All of this just seems kind of stupid. I feel this would be in better hands with CW. Thats saying a lot!

She's not what I think of when i think CatGrant though I don't care enough to make it a thing. Especially when I have very little interest in the show.

@teerack: agree. no shade but she isnt "pretty" enough. cat is super superficial and has had lost of work done (pre new 52 of course since everyone is a kid nowadays) but she is a capable actress so will see what she can bring to the table

All I know abut her is the skeleton jokes from Family Guy and Scary Movie 2.

But Cat is supposed to look like a bimbo, not this mousy grandmother.
