Casiolena was first seen in "Avengers" vol. 1 #83 (December, 1970), seducing the Executioner and convincing him to be her mate. Abandoning the Enchantress in the process.

In Defenders" vol. 1 #4 (February, 1973), the realm of Casiolena was introduced. The Enchantress invaded it alongside her new love interest/pawn, the Black Knight. Casiolena had little trouble defeating them both and imprisoning them. Some time later two other visitors from Earth arrived in Casiolena's realm. They were Dr. Bruce Banner (the Hulk) and the now-insane Barbara Morris. Casiolena had them imprisoned as well. The latter two visitors were followed by two allies seeking them, Dr. Strange and Namor. Casiolena had Fragon, her chief sorcerer, take down the doctor. The Executioner and his troops took care of Namor. Casiolena had the poor idea to place them in the same dungeons as the other prisoners.

They all figured they were now enough of them around to launch an escape attempt. The only one unable to defend herself was Barbara. But the Enchantress dealt with it. She merged Brunnhilde the Valkyrie's mind and Barbara's body. Providing a powerful Asgardian warrior to join the four Defenders. The only restriction of the spell was Valkyrie being prevented from actually hurting another woman. This did not stop Valkyrie from holding Casiolena in a choak hold while the Echantress knocked out the sorceress.

Casiolena was next seen in "Defenders" vol. 1 #66-67 (December, 1978 - January, 1979). She had apparently lost her own realm and joined the service of Ollerus the Unmerciful, an Asgardian enemy of Hela. Ollerus wanted to depose his enemy and become the new God of Death. But to do so he needed help. He had no magic of his own and relied on Casiolena and Poppo to perform magic feets for him. but he still needed more help. Casiolena remembered two loose ends left behind by her own hated rival, the Enchantress: the disembodied mind of Barbara and the dormant original body of Brunnhilde. She merged them to create her own version of the Valkyrie. Creating a duplicate of Aragorn to lend to her new warrior.

Casiolena and her allies arranged for the "accidental" deaths of Hellcat, Hulk and Nighthawk. Arranging for her new Valkyrie to recruit their souls for the coming conflict with Hela. They failed to realize this wasn't the Valkyrie most familiar to them. Thousands of other humans were killed and recruited into Ollerus' army. They were promised a new chance if managing to defeat the Goddess. When the real Brunnhilde investigated, Casiolena had her captured. She eventually escaped. But by the time the trio of Defenders had defected to Hela's side. The end of the conflict had Hela exiling herself, Ollerus and Barbara to Niffleheim.

Years later, during the "Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat!" title, Casiolena and Poppo would manage to break free from Niffleheim and mount a base on an abandoned hospital at Roosevelt Island. She started recruiting superpowered people for an army that would help her get control of Midgard. Her plot was foiled due to Hellcat, one of the Defenders who foiled her decades prior and was also looking to help the gifted, and her friends.

    Powers and Abilities

The Gods of Asgard have physical attributes that make them superhuman compared to human beings. They are near ageless, immune to all diseases and have superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and a high level of resistance to injury. The typical Asgardian God can only lift about 30 tons while the typical Asgardian Goddess can lift near 25 tons. The Gods of Asgard are also granted certain mystical abilities that in the past have shown to get them the power to change their appearance, transform matter and wield a numerous amount of different energies. Though many Asgardian Gods/Goddess' have not shown the ability to wield any type of energy or shown any mystic abilities these powers are inherent to all of their race.
