    Adventures of Tow Mater #3

Bubba and Tow Mater are in the heat of battle.  This issue, they are having a cone race, it's not a race of speed but to see who can complete the course and knock down the least number of cones.  Meanwhile, Sally and Lightning are trying to prove the innocence of Red... who has been accused of stealing the rear-view mirrors from Sarge's surplus store.
This has been a fun read for my daughter and me.  Tow Mater is his usually goofy, naive self.  He is the reason we are getting this title and it's no disappointment.  He's busy cracking us up with his saying, his misunderstandings and his clumsiness.  It's also a good chance to talk about friendship with her.  How Lightning McQueen does not let his friend Mater down... he shows up at the race to watch (and cheer on) his friend.  Good lesson on how friends are there to support each other.  She really liked how Mater was  remembering a lesson the Doc Hudson had taught him about cone racing.  She got a big kick out of the whole "Leaf in a breeze!" mantra.  Good fun!
We are even left with a nice little cliff hanger here.  She has been putting off reading this title for a while... but after the cliff hanger, she ran to her room, grabbed issue four and we had to read it to find out what happens with Mater.
I also like the little jokes that really only the adults will get.  Lightning has a couple of those in the first few pages... I won't spoil them for you...
She rated it a 4... I might have rated it higher myself... but I leave it up to her.
