I hate the new look. Now that that is out of the way dose he now have ice powers instead of ice tech?

I was going to pick up this flash story but like I said I hate the new look so is the story good if so I might get the trade.

@BloodTalon: Yep, he has ice powers.

The story isn't all that good…the art is gorgeous, but the story is just fairly maddening to Flash/Rogues fans.

His new look isn't terrible but yes, art is an absolute gem to look at, while there is quite of bit of diservice to fans.

@Deranged Midget: this stinks I was hoping that people were going to say that is was good and I could over look the bad art design of one favorite villains but both of the replies have said otherwise oh well

Captain Cold's classic look was terrible. This one, at least, is decent.

@Izaiah: now I am not saying that his old look did not need any changes it was in no way perfect but I liked it way more than this new one that I can only describe as a pile.

    but to each there own.

People complaining about his old look. There was a reason for him to look that way.

I kinda have to agree there, I mean, now that he literally has ice powers instead of having to rely on a gun that can be taken away from him, this kinda evens the odds between him and the Flash. I've always thought of Captain Cold as sort of a "poor man's Mr. Freeze," but now he can actually be a force to be reckoned with. Has it been stated whether he's a Metahuman now or if he used some new tech to gain ice powers?

@Icarusflies: I'll admit I'm not a big expert on the Flash mythos and that much of the New 52 universe has been VERY hit and miss with me, mostly miss to be honest XD. However, why exactly do Flash fans not like the new story? I mean, now that Captain Cold has literal ice powers, doesn't that make him a MUCH bigger threat to the Flash? Basically make him a more worthy adversary? I mean, I kinda always thought of Captain Cold as a poor man's Mr. Freeze, take away his gun and he's harmless, but now he's alot trickier to deal with right? Or was there something else about the new Cold that people don't like?

I don't mind the new look (it's just his regular, minus sleeves). Its the fact that he's a meta now that bugs me. Before, he was a blue collar criminal with a freeze gun. Now, he's just another Iceman knockoff.

    @Sinestro2828:

Its the principle of the matter. It wasn't the fact that he had a freeze gun that made him dangerous, it was that he was so down to earth. Turning him into a metahuman just makes him come across as (yet another) Poor Man's Iceman. Before, he was Captain Cold, with his iconic Cold Gun. It'd be like...taking away Batman's utility belt and giving him the ability to spontaneously generate all his tools on his own, like a green lantern ring or something. It's just not what the character is about.

Okay, I guess I get it now, god knows I HATE how so many of my favorite characters have been altered so utterly that I can't even recognize them anymore...namely the now remorseful Blackfire & a Starfire who actually holds grudges against the entirety of her own species for the actions of ONE person, and pretty much everyone who was ever involved in the Teen Titans universe...including the now missing Wally West, my fave Flash, & Donna Troy.

But yeah, if people loved Cold for being human rather than superhuman I can understand why giving him actual frost powers would be upsetting.

    now it's just lame

Its especially annoying how...much like Zoom didn't actually have speed powers (He had time altering powers that let him emulate superspeed), Captain Cold didn't actually have frost powers with his gun. His gun actually slowed things down, the ice was a side effect. So now making Ice the primary power and slowing things down into the side effect just seems really off.

I have no clue how fans are complaining. Basically, you were prefer his and Rogues' shtick to be that of moronic jokes who get taken out easier than common thugs and honestly aren't much different?

Just like how Batman can't have powers. It just defeats the purpose of the character.

The whole appeal of the Rogues is that they are just blue collar criminals with tech, yet they manage to be huge threats, even to The Flash. Turning their tech abilities into innate powers just..trivializes the characters.

His look is actually pretty cool but I prefered him before when he had no ice powers.
