Jumped to the Future...Again!
This issue immediately sets Captain Atom to a mission in which he must travel to Canada to stop Plastique. While there is a good story to tell in this issue, a lot of important information may have been missed.
The Good:
-Plastique, a villain from Firestorm series, makes an appearance and steps up to make even a bigger threat this time.
-The main story, what to do with Nathaniel as Captain Atom, continues in this issue with Dr. Megala and Eiling.
-This issue focused on Nathaniel Adams superhero's skills as he had to be a hero for the first time and find a way to stop Plastique.
The Bad:
-Despite the main story of what to do with Nathaniel as Captain Atom is continued with Dr. Megala and Eiling, it is only touched on a little bit which is understandable.
-Nathaniel is fighting a villain that is not new which again is fine but to make this a real series, Nathaniel must have his own enemies not others that have appeared in other superhero's series. Also, including the opinions of other superheroes was a nice touch but maybe was unnecessary.
-The story in this issue is jumped into the middle, Nathaniel meets Plastique quickly in the beginning. A little background would have been helpful.
Overall: 3 out 5
The main reason for the rating is because the main story of what Dr. Megala and Eiling want to do with Captain Atom is only touched a bit in this issue when I felt it should have been as important as Captain Atom trying to take down Plastique. Showing his superhero skills is a good idea but I felt at this point, we are still learning about him and putting him in a mission may have been rushed.
