    During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.

    Why does Cap (Steve) only use a shield?

    I mean, the shield can be used as a offensive weapon, but why doesn't he use anything in his right hand? Like a mace, or a sword of some sort. Is there any real reason why he doesn't? Personally, I think it would be really sick to give the Cap a Morningstar of some sort.

    Sometimes he uses a gun (Bucky/Ultimate). He doesnt want to kill and any other weapon could kill. He does great without anything else anyhow. Captain America is a Super-Soldier. All he needs are two fists.

    The shield is symbolic of Captain America's ideals. WW2 aside, he is a fighter, not a killer. The reason Cap didn't use guns as a superhero is the same reason he doesn't go around smashing people's brains in with a morningstar. That's more Frank Castle's style, and I think we know what Cap thinks of that.

    Okay, that's cool. I just don't know much about the origin of the character of Captain America.  
     
    But Morningstars are cool regardless.

    @doordoor123: Yeah Steve is awesome, but the articles on the Vine don't always explain why a character does what he does, why he has the morals that he has, so I felt like asking would be the better solution.

    thats is a very cool idea about the morning star lol but it would have to be blunt.... maybe just a vibranium  ball... that he only brings out when  fighting  superhumans...... very very very cool idea tho
