During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
I love it, i neve followed him till rebirth and i definitely think i will continue to follow him. I know he doesnt have his shield any more but i hope they give him a new one or maybe more of an offensive weapon (besides guns). May be a little TOO old in the times but i think he would look cool with a spear or possibly two night sticks

Why would he have the Captain America shield when he isn't going to be Captain America? On that note though, it appears he will be using a gun(s).

That's an awesome cover! I like how they're using Hitch's redesign of Cap's WWII look now. Steve's new uniform is sick, and I'm either guessing he's just going by Steve Rogers or Super-Soldier?

On another note, these are all points as to why Steve Rogers should be Captain America, not why Bucky Barnes doesn't deserve it.
@reaper2923: I agree, I like Steve better as a character. But that doesn't mean Bucky doesn't make a good Captain America. It also doesn't mean taking Steve in a different direction is a bad thing.
awwww man...........I like but......I just was hoping he would still wear his captain get up and just change the name or something. I know Mr. Barnes is the new Cap so he gets the shield but I really can't see Steve shooting someone. If he has a gun just for show I'm really not going to like it. Bucky shot to kill on his espionage missions. I can't see Steve doing the same. I'll take the new costume if he can trade Bucky a gun for the shield. The uniform is sweet though
@Nobody: Yea he was killing Nazi's lol That's acceptable........I don't know who the main antagonists for the Secret Avengers are going to be but I can't see Steve shooting a Hydra henchman or one of the Hood's crownies. I can't see the writers justifying Steve shooting someone in non wartime.........And he's just so nifty with that shield!
@Nobody: Having Steve Rogers start using guns again, after over sixty years, is B.S. Marvel should just make him Captain America again and have Bucky fill the role of the gun-wielding bad-ass. They would once again compliment each other when battling the forces of evil as well as remain true to their respective characters. I wish marvel would quit tinkering with the very essences of their best and most established characters. The characterization they've built and had for decades is what made these characters iconic. Changing them for the shock-factor and quick buck of false 'collectability' turns off and runs off the longest standing and most loyal fans. They should just let their great characters be great and monkey around with the lower tier ones.
The reason for this is due to the fact he will be the leader of SHIELD and is wearing a more militaristic uniform. Trying to be official and he is going back to his soldier roots. He still can be non lethal with a gun. Ever heard of a legshot or a arm shot? Anyway, it has to do with the storyline they have coming up. He said Bucky needed to be Cap for whatever he saw in the future. But I am HAPPY they are pushing the younger heroes forward.
I think it is all about telling new stories. I mean Brubraker has been telling some great Cap stories for a while now and if he feels this is where he wants to take it, just enjoy the ride. Having multiple Cap books basically is interesting especially if they give time to the New Captain America to grow in the Marvel U. Will we still see this change for 5 - 10 years? Possibly but why not? It is still the same character, just a different costume.
I really hope he gets incourperated into the Captain America main series. He and Bucky would make a killer fighting team. Also, I think this mini-series looks meh'. I really wish Brubaker would make an ongoing Steve Rogers series and get a better artist too. IDK what's wrong with the crew he's had thus far? Why don't they get Epting for this new series? Guice? Ross? They've all done a great job.
Pretty awesome man! I hope he's also leading the new Shield too. It's kind of weird that the suit is really modeled after the USAF, and not the US Army since Steve was in the Army in the past. But the air force insignia has a lot more blue for Steve which I think he likes to main.

I think it looks awesome. Plus, there is no reason why Steve would not use a gun. The only reason he did not as Captain America is because he did not need to. His shield was better. He does not have the shield anymore. Why give him a replica? It makes no sense. All it would do is illustrate his inability to let go of Captain America. I think people just have a problem with change. Even if it provides a character with more depth.
Steve Rogers has the super soldier serum which makes him the epitome of human potential if I'm not mistaken. When he was cap and wore the flag it showed that he represented the epitome of America's potential: to be just, honest and moral etc. like himself. I do hope that he becomes Cap once more. I like Bucky as a character and he makes a good cap. I just think it would be Better if he was the one wielding the guns and steve was the one wielding the shield. Their characters would remain true yet still be appealing to fans.imo. I kinda agree with PowerHerc.
@homeslice: Since when are the use of guns anti-american? Traditionally, it is actually quite the opposite. Americans love their guns. I personally think that Bucky makes for a better Captain America anyway. He represents what America is, rather than an unobtainable ideal.

Not exactly what I meant. Besides, he has only been a russian assassin for about 5 years from his point of view. Furthermore, he is not currently a russian assassin. I would think that Steve would know who needs to be Captain America better than anyone anyway.
@erik: I understand what u mean. Bucky does make an excellent Captain america and represents what America is. I have absolutely no objection to him being cap.
I only dislike the idea that Steve Rogers has some new identity and not cap. I was cool with both of them as captain. I know most people will disagree but I think they should they should switch paces. that way steve would be cap, have the shield and be united with ironman, thor and spiderwoman. Bucky would still be the leader of a team and his girlfriend black widow is on it. he would also keep using guns and not wear a mask.(i think his hair is cool)
@homeslice: Okay. Well that is a personal preference so it gets a pass. But how do you get around that Steve knows Bucky might die if he is not Captain America anymore?
@erik: Good point. I forgot that steve thinks he might die. Bucky deserves to live and should remain as captain america for now but i hope steve reclaims the mantle at some point. as long as steve does not remain on the sidelines as the 'super soldier' and neither of them gets killed again i'll be happy.
