If Steve Rogers were in DC and he'd been given a Green Lantern Ring instead of Super Soldier Serum, where would he rank amongst the greats of the Green Lantern Corps?

@Sexy Merc: Blue Lanterns don't have the history nor the depth to really judge in this forum IMO.

But that would probably be his best fit for a Power Ring Corps

@Night Thrasher: That's a good point. Steve would make a damn good Green Lantern but most of his history is involved with America and being a patriot so it's very difficult to see how his willpower will be when he's visiting different civilizations/races etc.

@Sexy Merc: I think his character is based more on his strong moral values. If Steve were French instead of American he'd still be the same character IMO. The costume represents America, the man stands for civil liberties and equality of all races, nationalities and creeds

@Sexy Merc: It's meant to be fun and introspective. If you could remove the patriotism bit from his character then how would you see him as a Green Lantern. Also, don't forget Steve has interacted with plenty of Alien races as an Avenger i.e. Kree, Skrulls, Shi'ar

    1) Kyle Rayner
    2) Hal Jordan
    3) Guy Gardner
    4) Matt Murdock
    5) Steve Rogers
    6) John Stewart
    7) Kilowog
    8) Sodam Yat (Given more time, he could be in the top 3, maybe 1st)
    9) Rond Vidar (He had serious willpower. Prime couldn't even break his shields and his intellect allowed him to meet on levels intellectually with Querl Dox.)
    10) Mar-Vell

@Night Thrasher:  Steve and Matt is close for me, could go either way in my opinion. I honestly think you're putting Guy way too low. Katma was a great Green Lantern, top 20 for sure (OH S**T, what about Sinestro, does he count?). John displayed a lack of will in different scenarios, he nearly lost his will to stay in the Corps after Xanshi. His feat of exceeding the retcon Ring was more of him letting his emotions and will out that he had kept inside, so I would classify it as a high end feat. Guy in the past, has been through so damn much and always has the will to get back. His will was on par with Hal's in many scenarios, I definitely don't think Kilowog or Mar-Vell are above him, and he just gets past John for me.

@Jotham:  Honestly, it depends on when you started reading Green Lantern. If you've started with Johns, then I could see why, but if you've been reading Green Lantern from Guy's first appearance, you'd know he easily cracks the top 10, in willpower, power-wise (stalemated Eradicator, Lobob, beat Kilowog and a horde of Rocket Reds etc.).

@Jotham: I think Sexy Merc answered that question. I haven't been reading GL for long, but I have been through some back issues from the beginning of the previous volume and Guy is definitely up there.

@Sexy Merc: I think Steve is probably going to be a natural fit in the Green or Blue Lanterns, Matt might take a little while adjusting to the ring. Especially the return of his sight. Katma while not as impressive as some you listed is one of my favorite Lanterns. I've only started reading Green Lantern in the past two years (I've read Sinestro Corps Wars, but can't read Blackest Night for some reason), but going through the back issues I have a soft spot for her. I think Sinestro is more considered a yellow lantern now, so I didn't even consider him in my list, but if he were then I'd say probably right after Hal.

@Sexy Merc: Well this period of JLA (or JSA, or some other acronym) is pretty much all I know about Guy.

I got the impression that he was pretty much useless and even a bit of a liability, sort of the Gambit of the DC universe. And now I've made the Gambit fans angry.

@Night Thrasher: Katma was awesome. She was a Black Lantern but I hope she comes back. She was definitely impressive in the arcs she was in and the relationship between her and John are one of my favorites in comics. The lack of sight could be a problem at first but with the Green Lantern Ring and someone like Soranik, they may be able to cure it. I have no problem with putting Steve above Matt though they are both close for me. I waited until Blackest Night was released in hardcovers because I wasn't interested in the whole thing, same with Brightest Day.

@Jotham: Don't take this the wrong way but HELL NO. He isn't anything like the Gambit of the JLA. He's saved Superman's butt before and his Ring was useful for many missions. His Warrior run displayed a lot of his character as well as the Green Lantern volumes.

@Sexy Merc: Wow! I thought you were one of the Blackest Night fanatics. I picked up a few issues of Blackest Night because of the hype on this site, but I was unimpressed. Maybe it was the whole Zombie aspect (I don't really get into Zombies), but I get fatigued after about two issues of it. Same thing with Brightest Day. Though I will admit, Johns rocks on Green Lantern and Flash

He is a symbol of hope for the Marvel Universe, so as a Blue Lantern, he would probably be very powerful. He does have a lot of willpower though, I can never forget his fight against Iron Man in Civil War, during which he showed an enormous amount of willpower.

first..i always dreamed of how cool it would be to illustrate a book where various characters became Lanterns,
and Steve was included in that fantasy. Imagine the fun you could have with that. Just loosely, the obvious one
is the shield he could make, then the many variations on that. Make things like big flags, eagles, WW2 tanks and
planes, ect. There's an endless them to tap from with Steve that would look great visually every time.

As for where he would stand thinking realistically about it I actually don't think he would. I think Steve
would come to blows with the other already established ranking Lantern elite, as he always tends to.
Steve has never been much for cosmic fairing. I think he would do what it takes to pass on the position
so he could keep his focus on defending the country and planet that he loves.
