So as I've mentioned before here I've started going back to Marvel's roots with their older comics (in this case Timely) and whilst reading I saw that Sargent Duffy looked and acted sort of like Nat Pendleton's character from Buck Privates is there any truth that he was the inspiration? I mean Buck Privates was released in January 1941 and the first issue of Captain America comics was released in March of 1941 so it lines up properly but a quick search didn't turn up anything.

Anyone know? When I get a change I'll post up a comparison picture.

So what do you guys think? Probably not going to get much of a response since this is before most of your guys time, but I grew up watching Abbott and Costello (Not in 1941, but just the films themselves).
