As the interview was wrapping up, I asked him about what he's doing next, as part of a question about what he looks for in scripts. And at the last second, he said that, "I think it's time for me to go back to playing some of the really good guys who can get the job done, like Captain America, maybe." I immediately asked him if that was a hint, and his response was even more confusing.
Here's video of that part:
What do you think? Could he be pulling an Eliza and be in the hopes that a casting director might hear his 'suggestion'? He wouldn't be a horrible choice. The only slight problem I have is he is in his forties. Not a huge deal. But "The First Avenger: Captain America" is scheduled for a 2011 release. Time is ticking and McDonough won't be getting younger. We also have to think about potential Captain America spin-offs.
Who do you think should play Cap?
