|This novel obviously takes place before the "Civil War" storyline in Marvel (which culminates in the Captain's assassination) and features two embers of the Russian sup[erhero group, the Winter Guard( Airstrike and Seraph) and deals with many topics that I feel deserve more commentary on in the Marvel Universe- the role of faith in an individual's daily life, sin guilt and redemption, and last but not least, whether a hero/heroine can ever be separated from his/her nationality.

During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
