During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
I'm a not an english speaker person and I don't care about Captain America. I'm sure that there's some people who would like CA in my country, and I' sure that there's gonna be some people who don't like him (or rather don't care about him, like me).
The reason I don't care about him is because he's basically a living flag. Hope, duty, courage, leadership, justice, compassion, those aren't american values to exclusively appropriate them.
One of Captain America's adversaries is the ruthless Super-Patriot, a terrorist with a particular dark view of American democracy.
Captain America has nice dimensions, but what other countries would probably want to see more in the global market is an explicit connection between the Marvel hero and American consumerism-philosophy culture (i.e., Starbucks, Wall Street, etc.).
How about creating a fictional American toy company managed by Captain America, one that sells holiday-themed toys (i.e., Halloween [witch/troll] talking-dolls, Santa Claus adventure video games [North Pole Raceway], Easter Rabbit RPGs [egg hunt arcade], etc.)? We could create an American culture biased market by calling it American Holiday Chain.
Depends how other people tend to think about the US in general and the current Administration. There have been times when the US has been decidedly unpopular due to the policies of the then Adminstration or conflicts engaged in(pace Vietnam or more recently the so-called "War On Terror" and the invasion of Iraq). Cap is at pains to point out that he represents the ideals of America as opposed to a given Administration's policies!
