We're all getting ready for The Avengers to assemble in theaters. We've been seeing a lot of clips and images. We know that a sequel for Captain America: The First Avenger is also going to happen. It's not completely new news but Walt Disney Studios has officially announced the release date for the sequel.

We can expect to see more of Captain America on the big screen on April 4, 2014. What will the movie be about? Will it be a flashback or simply the further adventures of Cap? Disney has stated the following:

The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

And they've also included an 'exclusive' photo from The Avengers.

It kinda stinks that they rushed through WWII so quickly. Hopefully there is a flashback of some sorts to maybe set up the new villain.

I too am expecting Winter Soldier. Bucky was such a good part of the first, and as the Winter Soldier he's even more of a badass. It would be great. Plus, why not include Black Widow?

I'd like to see Winter Soldier but I'd rather have Baron Zemo as the main villain. They could have Bucky start out as an enemy working for the main villain who ends up helping Cap defeat him

Cap looks better without the helmet, although i kinda wish they just kept his WW2 movie costume.

lame, vague synopsis

I am glad to hear Cap will be in present time, I would have also been glad if they did some WWII stuff in the sequel. But He also lives in the present day, and struggles to fit in and all that, something the Avengers movies may not focus on. So I am glad, and who knows maybe the 3rd will be in the past or maybe the 2nd and 3rd will have flashbacks to WWII, like Baron Zemo during WWII and today.

IMHO there's something about that mask that just makes this modern costume feel...goofy. Without it, he looks great, though.

I know I'm against the majority with this one, but I hope they go with a different director. I don't think Joe Johnston is terrible, but his work has never left me impressed. I think Cap is deserving of a better movie and hopefully we'll get that this time around.

It's highly unlikely, but Zemo as the primary villain with Taskmaster (and his school of his best-- they could use Crossbones/Batroc..I know Batroc wasn't in there, but come on, changes are always made) also thrown in the mix could be very entertaining. Perhaps leave us with a cliffhanger that Bucky is back, and he's the Winter Solider now *gasp*

I'd buy that. Zemo is awesome. I'll probably bet that they'll bring back Arnim Zola too.

@SpidermanWins: they haven't even scripted the damn thing yet can we at least wait until some work on a movie starts before we start bitching, this right here is the exact reason most movie studios don't take comic fans seriously because we complain about absolutely every single detail to the point where our complaints just become white noise to them so they start to ignore all our complaints including the valid ones.

They should have him face off against Zemo. that way you could flashback to him fighting his father and grandfather and then in modern day facing off against Helmut. That would be bad a$$. or Kang

anyone else thing the first avengers movie with loki would be a great time for secondary characters like the wrecking crew to join in on the fight against good? but I'm pretty sure I won't get that gift when the movie comes out.

you can't have winter soldier yet, we haven't even seen Zemo

People who want winter soldier in film 2 have, tbh, no understanding of the story whatsoever. bucky needs to be dead much longer than 5 minutes to create any sort of resonance when he comes back as winter soldier >.<

I wonder if this means some of the howling commandos will be back, and hopefulyl an appearance from Union Jack

I can't help but want a Zemo in the next film or, considering what the first film gave us, why not bring in Zola? The blueprints for his suit are in the First Avenger so let it happen, of course Zola would be tough to be the main villain. Lead into Skull's return maybe? I guess I'm dreaming. Considering the direction they've gone with the costumes in the films, my wishes are obviously not coming true.

Eh, I don't think it would be too soon for Winter Soldier. They could possibly have him pulling off those covert missions in the shadows, not fully revealed until 1/2 to 3/4 through the movie. He then finally snaps out of it in the third movie. But it could also work if he didn't appear until the third.

I hope they don't rush into Winter Soldier. Let him either be hinted at in 2 or shown post credits as the reveal for the next villain. I'd love to see him fight a modern HYDRA.

Cap 2: Zemo with Crossbones and Sin as lackeys. They're trying to revive the Red Skull. Halfway through the film they track down Zola who has prolonged his life in the suit.

Meanwhile over in Iron Man 3 and Avengers 2, there's a Scourge type assassin on the loose in small subplots who we never discover the identity of killing off political figures.

Cap 3: It's only the damn Winter Soldier!

Marvel Studios is releasing 2 Marvel movies a year after the Avengers.

Notice I said Marvel STUDIOS. This does not include Spider-Man, since Sony owns him right now, or the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, or X-Men including Deadpool, as Fox owns them.

And I can't stress that last point hard enough people. Think Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, something along these lines to tie into the Marvel Movieverse.

I just wish they could have used the same Cap costume from the first movie. On the other hand, the sequel will be great. Please....not the ugly costume from the Avengers. =P

Not complaining, it's the truth. In a nutshell: Of course he'll be adapting to the modern world (I expected it would take place after the Avengers movie anyhow), of course he'll be in with SHIELD (who isn't now?), and obviously a sequel continues his story. They haven't told us anything here, not that I'm surprised. As you said, the script hasn't even been written, but usually when I hear a synopsis has been released I expect something I should care about. That's all I'm saying. I'll care more when they actually reveal something we want to know.

And if I were you, I'd be more concerned about people flagging your posts if you keep up that kind of attitude toward people.
