We know that casting for The First Avenger: Captain America is supposed to be complete by March 1st. So if there's going to be any casting rumors, people need to run with them now. The other day, CinemaSpy reported that they received "an email from a tipster claiming to be well-connected within the Paramount hierarchy." Sounds legit, right? Not really. Even CinemaSpy says they're skeptical. Why would they mention it? The same reason I have to, just in case. Nothing sucks more than someone trying to draw attention to themselves by creating a false rumor. The thing is, if you try to bring attention to yourself with some crazy story and it falls through, there goes your credibility. CinemaSpy does mention that they don't necessarily believe this and we'll soon find out if there's any truth behind this.

    What did the "e-mail" say?

Anyway, just thought you guys might like to know that Paramount and Marvel are pretty close to closing a deal on casting Steve Rogers/Captain America and fans might be excited to learn that the short list includes somebody a lot of fans speculated about, Chris Pine. From what I'm hearing, he's the frontrunner right now, though that could change. Can't tell you who the other couple of choices are, cause that'll work against me for reasons I don't want to get into.

Anyway, hope this is helpful, feel free to do what you want with it.

I have to say I don't buy it. Could Chris Pine pull it off? Probably. The first thing that comes to mind is that just last week, director Joe Johnston mentioned that they would be going with an unknown to play Steve Rogers.

I hope it'll be somebody that we discover and has never been, has probably been in something, but you won't know who he is. You won't recognize him. And we'll surround him with more prominent names. That's who we're looking for. Will we find him? I don't know. It's tough.

But things do change. Even though Johnston is the director, there could be pressure from the studio to cast a bigger name so the movie would have a bigger draw. Like I said, we'll have to wait and see.

Do you think Chris Pine would make a good Captain America? Do you think they should go with a known actor or an unknown?

They should go with an unknown. Hopefully that happens and the movie is good, I'd really hate a crappy Cap movie.

Does anyone have a bigger image of that facepalm? I didn't want to spend too much time looking for one. That was the only one I had in my arsenal.

well actors such as Tobey Mcguire and Hugh Jackman became more widely known after they starred as a comic book character so they should  go with someone who is a somwhat a B lister rather then try to find someone famous to play captain america to promote the movie. Chris Pine doesnt seem that bad but doesnt seem like that much of a good fit either.  Personally I would go with Josh Duhamel, he looks just right.

He did a pretty good job as Kirk but Kirk and Cap are polar opposites. Sure they are both leaders but they have completely different views on how it should be done. Plus Kirk only led for the last half hour of that movie. I think Cap should be done by a young guy since he was 17 I think when he enlisted.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/polls/?poll=412&view=results thier bs meter on this story is not going chris's way. They also pointed out the director wanting some one sorta unown.Chris is tied to star trek now an it would be captian kirk playing captian america as headlines.

According to BigShinyRobot.com, their reliable source in the Paramount/Marvel confirmed that the studio is indeed only considering unknowns/television actors to play Captain America .  The source, who remains unnamed, specifically pointed out Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) as being among the top choices. Later they said it was confirmented they have read not as the top three tho.

If Pine were older, he'd be perfect. But I think someone like Brad Pitt (someone around Robert Downey Jr.'s age should play him). That's only because Iron Man and Cap are good friends and it'd be better if they were roughly the same age.

It all depends on what age range their shooting for with the casting.

If they are going for a younger cap then I think Chris Pine could pull it off (providing he bulks up for the role) - the same goes for Ryan McPartlin.

If they are going for an older Cap - I totally agree on the Mark Valley idea. He's pretty awesome with the action/fighting on Human Target. He's a great actor as well.

Interesting well I suspect that he wouldnt be good for the role but at the same time who would have guessed that Heath Ledger could have made such a splendid Joker. So Im wont rule his ability to act out. By looks he looks more like Bucky then Cap.

Mark Valley has already been quoted he didnt know about wearing tights. An hes older their the age group their looking for.An every time i watch The Human Target  i think to my self theirs steve rogers.

Captian awsome tho has read for the part as i posted earlyer in the thread.Hes the one im rooting for But is seems at least on comib book movie site that Jensen Ackles   leads their popularity pole of the three i mentioned.Guess i should watch supernatural some an see what their seeing.

Hmmm, Im on the fence for this one. As comic books are being turned into movies (well, their characters anyway), I'm open to seeing how the whole set-up will be played out. But I thought someone posted something about Captain Kirk's dad in Star Trek play Captain AMerica???? Oh well.  If Pine packs on the pounds and muscle, then maybe.

@Marshal Victory:  If McPartlin bulks up a bit, he'd look exactly like a young Cap. He's not super well-known so that might be an advantage to him as well if that's what the director is looking for. As for Supernatural, it's one of my favorite shows on TV right now - you should definitely check it out. I wouldn't complain either if Jensen Ackles got the part. I know he's somewhere around the 6-foot mark, so he might have a decent enough physicality for Cap.

I'm just happy there going to try and make a decent Cap movie in my lifetime for starters- second as far as who plays him, I'm fine with Capt Awesome or Chris Pine or even Jensen Ackles if need be. But if I had my choice I'd prefer Mark Valley just for the maturity value he brings and he is someone I can see others respecting and following when Cap gives the order 'Avengers Assemble!!!!'.

OK watched "song remains the same" on cw site of supernatural an ya i could see it. Hes not short as people think he is. On another site they said he was 6'1" but in hollyweird height is lied about alot.both could fit the bill fairly easy rember caps early incarnations he was buff but not super built muscle magizine cut. like this ..

Jensen is 6'1",  Jared the actor who plays Sam is 6'4". As much as I love Jensen Ackles I don't see him as Captain America at all. He's a great actor but not right for that role.
