Does he need one?

#2 Posted by BlackArmor (6136 posts) - - Show Bio

No, especially not one of these

You really don't think he needs a redesign with the pirate boots and huge gloves?

I like the 3rd and 4th photos, but Cap doesn't need a redesign. Albeit, I did like his Commander Rogers gimmick.

Damn, all of those are spectacular costumes. I'm really digging the second and fourth ones.

Nah, He doesn't need a redesign. Although I do like the 3rd one (without the green shirt).

#7 Posted by BlackArmor (6136 posts) - - Show Bio

@spiderbat87: I'm not going to say that his costume is timeless, it's already been updated several times and if the new 52's Superman shows anything it's that no costume is untouchable or sacred. That being said the more absurd parts of his costume are fine for now and won't have to be changed or disposed of until the present hits so hard that even capes are outlawed. This is comics and ridiculous costumes are a large part of the genre until that changes the less serious parts of his costume are fine

change the third one's green parts to blue and its okay. but, the rest are too ridiculous for words, especially the last one. But anyway his costume is fine the way it is now.

@Deranged Midget: Yea I do to, I think the second with the fourth cowl, even though Cap really doesn't even need a cowl

@BlackArmor: Even Ultimate, Bucky and AoX had better costumes

I say keep him in this one, simple and effective.

@spiderbat87: The AoX costume is my favourite by far.

@Aiden Cross: Agreed, it's simplistic yet effective.

@spiderbat87: Those were better costumes, I just don't think Cap needs a new one, I won't complain if h gets one and I don't see a problem with it but I allso don't see a problem with his current one, I think Ironman gets 2 new costumes in the next few months, the non Magnetic one for AVX and the Tron one from his own series, So I'm sure Cap will at least get an update on his current one sometime soon and I'm neither excited nor sad about it

#14 Posted by Aiden Cross (15562 posts) - - Show Bio

Frankly, i think Cap's costume looks much better without the headgear. But that goes for a lot of characters like Cyclops and Gambit etc.

#15 Posted by Jonny_Anonymous (32993 posts) - - Show Bio
@Aiden Cross: I agree, I loved his Super Solider costume and he rellyy doesn't need a cowl.
#16 Posted by BlackArmor (6136 posts) - - Show Bio

Now hold on a second, I don't care if Cap gets updated but all cowls everywhere make everything better, I don't particularly like Gambit's......thing, but Cap and Cyke's cowls are awesome, as are all cowls I have ever encountered in comics.

I wonder how this would look with his mask?

OH PHOTOSHOP GENIUSES WHERE ARE YOU!

@X35: ask in the scan manipulation thread lol
#19 Posted by Vance Astro (91191 posts) - - Show Bio

He wouldn't need a redesign if Marvel wasn't so typical and just let Bucky be Captain America.

@spiderbat87: I'm not that eager to see it haha.

Plus, i'm always asking for stuff in there..........the amount of photoshops they do for me, sooner or later, I'm gonna have to pay them back with provocative photos or something.........

He doesn't need a redesign but if he needs one and gets one I don't think that it should be any of these.

#22 Posted by TheCheeseStabber (8063 posts) - - Show Bio

I can see the last one as like a Captain America 2099 Version its pretty epic

You like the fish scales, pirate boots and big gloves?
#24 Posted by Joygirl (19317 posts) - - Show Bio

I liked all of those except RoboCap at the end. I was actually thinking he could use some camo when I opened the thread.

#25 Posted by TDK_1997 (14656 posts) - - Show Bio

@spiderbat87:No,but his costume is iconic and I think it fits him pretty well. The best Cap costume was when Bucky was Captain America.

Anyone remember this "gem"?

There was actually a Cap 2099! He was a villain and a big phony!!

#28 Posted by Aiden Cross (15562 posts) - - Show Bio

@X35: NO MASKS!

#29 Posted by ReVamp (22865 posts) - - Show Bio

Yes.

#30 Posted by X35 (5981 posts) - - Show Bio

@Aiden Cross: But people need to see the big letter A on his forehead or they might think he's fighting for France!! ^_^

#31 Posted by Aiden Cross (15562 posts) - - Show Bio

@X35: Well, it could also mean Australia, Afghanistan (iroooony :p), Austria, Azerbaijan, Antartica or Aruba :p

I think if they rebooted 2099 thy should use the last costume...Anyway why was he a phony? ;o
#34 Posted by Loki9876 (2995 posts) - - Show Bio

They should keep the costume he has but they could change the gloves and boots (they could use gloves and boots who looks like in the Avengers movie)

#35 Posted by joshmightbe (24876 posts) - - Show Bio
they're all better than this
#36 Posted by X35 (5981 posts) - - Show Bio

@TheCheeseStabber: he was a sadistic murderer and a lackey to a big corporate boss. he executed half of the heroes of 2099!!

#37 Posted by TheCheeseStabber (8063 posts) - - Show Bio
@X35: ...Sounds like an Average lackey to a corperation...is it the same Steve Rogers?
#38 Posted by X35 (5981 posts) - - Show Bio

@TheCheeseStabber: nooooo, it was just some guy pretending to be steve rogers unthawed from ice again to discredit Doctor Doom who was president at the time (this must sound as farfetched as it can come)

really good story btw.

#39 Posted by TheCheeseStabber (8063 posts) - - Show Bio
@X35: I've heard about the Dr.Doom thing before, at my local comic shops theres a lot of Spiderman 2099 and a few Punisher 2099's in the 25cent bin I've been thinking of picking up an this conversation is spurring it on. Anyway what happens to him ;D?
#40 Posted by X35 (5981 posts) - - Show Bio

@TheCheeseStabber: Cap 2099? you don't really find out, Warren Ellis quit along with most of the 2099 writers after the 2099 editor was fired. All the 2099 comics went downhill and were cancelled soon afterwards. The story was concluded really rushed.......with doom getting revenge i think he was ate alive my termites or something like that? it was baaaaaad.

But the Warren Ellis stuff is really great (Doom 2099 #26-35 and then 2099 Apocalypse #1)........Spider-Man 2099 is ok too iirc.....just the minute Peter David quit it got unbelievably bad (with Spider-Man 2099 lifting Thor's hammer and becoming a god :|). Punisher 2099 on the other hand was pretty crap though.

#41 Posted by TheCheeseStabber (8063 posts) - - Show Bio
@X35: I wonder if they ever reboot it i mean Spiey 2099 seems to be growing a bit with two new games out, be interesting to see i suppose, a rebot of an old franchise in comics

@X35: it seems interesting to me but Punisher praying to Thors a bit odd...

Well in 2099 there is a large Norse religious sect called the Thorites

I could go for one. Some of those redesigns in the OP are really good.

I don't think he does. If anything, I don't think the mask is necessary.
