During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
No. They have nothing to do with each other and don't event take place in the same dimension. If anyone told you that you had to read both they have no idea what they're talking about.
Probably not, but he did mention in the most recent issue that he'd been away in the other dimension, so there may be some follow up to his solo stories at some point.
To be fair, I'm not reading Cap's solo and I was a little put off by how he's been behaving in Uncanny Avengers so take from that what you will. Had I been aware of what happened to him in the other dimension, I would have understood better and actually, would have enjoyed the issue more than I did.
@masmason92: To this point there has been no crossover of the books. Cap mentions in the past UA that he was in a different dimension, but that has been it. They may crossover a little bit going forward since Cap will be back from Dimension Z, but I don't know since I haven't looked at any solicitations going forward.
Uncanny is a good story though starting with issue 6 which starts our current arc.
