Captain America

Character » Captain America appears in 6657 issues.

Too scrawny and frail to enlist in the U.S. Military during World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential he became Captain America. Now leader of the Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Captain America is a living legend and embodiment of freedom.

Cap and Namor seemed to ignore each other in the 60s. Why????????

In the 60s whenever Cap and Namor met.. they seemed to not recognize each other. Why? And if someone has scans showing otherwise... well POST THEM!

Both felt really awkward since the break-up.

Yeah but he regained his memory after Storm popped him in the ocean, so he would have recognized Cap when the Avengers fought him in the same issue where he accidentally saves cap

He had been frozen so long and was adjusting to all the changes. I wonder when the "Invaders" were first acknowledged...An early Avengers pre-#100 I believe..

Namor had some memory issues for quite a long time. If you want to ask the authority you should ask Rheged.

@batmanary:
When was Namor/Cap's first SA encounter?
#12 Posted by batmanary (798 posts) - 2 years, 5 months ago - Show Bio

I'm pretty sure it was the same issue where he was thawed out.... However I just realized the Invaders were invented in the 70s, so Cap didn't officially know Namor till then.

I believe they first met and failed to recognize each other in the first few issues of the Avengers Vol. 1 (1961) after Cap was revived.

Because Captain America didn't like hanging around grown men wearing only widey tighties and nothing else, so Captain America dis owned him. When Namor started wearing Emma Frosts pants it was a little better for him.......

Even if Namor had recovered his memories fully, the last he knew Steve Rogers had been reported MIA, and Namor knew of at least two successors. So he'd have no reason to believe the Cap in Avengers was anything other than another pretender to his old friend's costumed identity.
