     Thisssssssss guyyyyyyyy...
     Thisssssssss guyyyyyyyy...

And it’s Sebastian Stan? Did Stan Lee create this guy, with a name like that? I hadn’t heard of him before today, but apparently he had tried out for Captain America, initially, and Marvel liked what they saw enough to slot him as America’s favorite doomed sidekick, Bucky Barnes. If you've watched GOSSIP GIRL or KINGS, you might be familiar with this younger actor. He’s also currently starring in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, which I still need to see. I do find it ironic that he’s starring two movies concerning time travel and, using my warped movie logic, I suppose we can infer that a boiling hot tub will get you into the past while a freezing cold chunk of ice will get you into the future. Am I right? Am I right?

Digressions aside, I’m both surprised and gladdened that Bucky’s actually going to be in this movie. I don’t think Robin really works conceptually for Batman in the movies, but Captain America’s the kind of character who’d most likely have a sidekick. I don’t have birth dates to compare, at the moment, but I’d imagine that Stan and Chris Evans are pretty close in age, which should give their characters a novel dynamic. Actually, it seems like this movie’s doing a lot things differently than the usual origin story, not least of which is the inclusion of the Invaders, and that's good by me.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that insiders say that Stan’s signed on for a multi-picture deal (numbering at around five or six). Since one would think that Bucky exists only to bite it in a movie like this, I’m going to hazard a guess that we’ll see the Winter Soldier throughout the mega-arc of these flicks. If not that, then maybe Bucky’s ghost keeps showing up for extended flashbacks or hauntings? Ahhhhh… I’m not good at speculating, Comic Vine community. Tell me what YOU think! Give me the answers!

Well, preferably, the worst this movie can do is bring in the insurance money and go straight to DVD. We wouldn't want it to get any worse than that.

I would've think they would've cast someone a little bit younger. Since he's only 2 years younger than Chris.

Hot Tub Spoiler referring to his character in the movie.

What's funny is his character in Hot Tub wants to fight Communism and suspects the main guys to be Commies. Who in addition is inspired by watching Red Dawn. LOL

Not bad, but I worry more about the script. If the script is good it can make even bad actors (not saying these guys are bad, just saying) look good. I don't think they are looking for oscars out of these movies. They're looking to make good entertaining movies that get people to buy the comics.

@Bruce Vain:  Bucky was only about two years younger than Steve.

The reader has, for decades, pictured him as younger.  But Ed Brubaker did a lot to point out the fact that Steve was eighteen or nineteen at the beginning of the war, while Bucky was sixteen or seventeen.

Their relationship wasn't the Father/Son Dynamic of Batman and Robin. Rather, they were much closer to being brothers.

That's fine with me, that's why we have opinions. I wasn't saying Ledger's performance wasn't great I am saying if he hadn't died the academy wouldn't have nominated him. To them its still a comic movie.

And lets be honest people were saying the same things about Ledger when he was cast as Joker, you won't truly know until you see them on the screen.

I always did view them as brothers yes.

But Cap was 23 or 24 since he was born in 1917 and I'm assuming did Project :Rebirth in 1940 . Therefore , making him about 6 - 7 years older than Bucky.

This is bullcrap. How can Bucky be Cap's sidekick if he's only 2 years younger than him. That's stupid. This is why Cap should be at least 40, so that the sidekick/hero thing can work properly.

This guy looks like a real dweeb. Not feeling it, especially if they aim to portray Bucky more like the current Winter Soldier/pseudo-Cap incarnation than the original rosy-cheeked gee-whiz boy adventurer.

Truth. I did not think Heath Ledger's Joker was all that compelling. I imagine that if he had not killed himself, very few people outside of comic fandom would have thought there was anything exceptional about the performance.

LMAO!!  You're using reverse "Bizarro" logic.  Wait that's another comic book universe.  Yet...because of that fact,  it still works.
I've never been too keen on Bucky..at all.  Not as the Winter Soldier not even as the "new" Cap.  Although the new costume design kicks-a$$. m
Still excited about this movie, will have to check it out.  I DO like The Invaders being involved.

You should read Brubaker's run. He changed it to make them closer in age and it worked better because it was more believeable that Bucky would be in a war as a trained sharpshooter to balance Cap's inspiring soldier.

Weird about him being signed for a mult-picture deal. It'd be cool if they took the Winter Soldier route, and line him up as the villain in Avengers. Although, I wouldn't have this guy playing him. Perhaps use him for a few Bucky flashbacks, and then have someone completely different for the WS role.

What's th4 big gripe about the age thing?
You guys realise how rare it is for a teen to be played by a teen in mainstream movies and TV? How many of the Glee cast for instance are actually the same age as the character they play?

looks younger than evans and steve rogers and bucky are closer in age in the comics. it'll just be a relief to see all these superhero comic book movies actually being already. Now Sony has to follow suit and announce its Spidey Reboot casting if they want to make a July 2012 3D release date
