This post relates to: Captain America, Tim Sale, Jeph Loeb

I am so looking forward to this.  I love Cap.  I am enjoying Brubaker's story even though Cap is (still) dead.  This will  be classic.  I had a chance to watch Tim Sale in action at Wonder Con in February.  Simply amazing the way the pictures just pour out of his pen.  If you've read any of the past Loeb and Sale stuff, you don't need me telling you how good this is going to be.

It’s the project everyone’s buzzing about, from the Eisner Award-winning dream team of superstars Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, and it begins with Captain America: White #0, now featuring a new wraparound variant cover and lower price! Beloved for their powerful work on Spider-Man: Blue, Hulk: Gray, Daredevil: Yellow, television’s Heroes and more, Loeb & Sale reunite for a special, all-new tale of Captain America and Bucky during World War II, kicking off this hotly anticipated series! Leading directly into this fall’s Captain America: White #1, this issue also contains loads of extras taking you behind the scenes—and hinting at the future—of the next “color” series from one of the industry’s most acclaimed duos!

So what’re you waiting for? Don’t miss your first look at one of this year’s most anticipated projects in a special edition so chock full of surprises that it could only come from the team of Loeb & Sale—it’s Captain America: White #0, now only $2.99!

This post relates to: Avengers, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk

So as everyone's been buzzing about, we have a bunch of Marvel movies to look forward to.  Hopefully with the success of Iron Man, they'll see what works.  One great movie won't carry a bunch of bad ones.  I don't want Marvel rushing to get out a bunch of mediocre films when each one should be done right.  They need to ask what made Iron Man a success.  The actors?  Story?  Characters?  You can't just slap together a film with comic characters and expect it to be a success.  We just have to keep our fingers crossed.

This morning Marvel Studios announced four new films slated for 2010 and 2011, including two Avengers-related movies!

With Iron Man's cinematic debut currently blasting through box offices throughout the country, fans can expect a second film to hit theaters on April 30, 2010! And a few months later in July, the mighty Thor himself will wield his enchanted hammer across the big screen courtesy of director Matthew Vaughn!

Pumped yet? You should be—and you haven't heard the best part! The summer of 2011 will kick off in style with a Captain America movie, followed just two short months later with the July-debuting Avengers!

Want the very first looks at how the Marvel movie universe is already tying together? Be sure you stick to your seats until the very end of "Iron Man"—yes, all the way through the credits! There's an extra special, extra exciting, extra scene guaranteed to thrill!

Plus, as first revealed at New York Comic-Con 2008, catch Robert Downey, Jr.'s cameo as Tony Stark in "The Incredible Hulk," smashing into theaters on June 13!

That noise you hear in the background is the sound of Marvelites the world over rejoicing, True Believer! So get ready, because these next few years are going to be one heck of a good time!

This post relates to: Red Skull, Ed Brubaker, Captain America

Man how I enjoy this comic.  I have always enjoyed Captain America.  He's been one of my favorites for some time.  As much as I don't like having Steve around, I don't hold it against Ed Brubaker. His writing is absolutely brilliant.  The fact that this comic has been going strong almost a year since he's been killed is amazing.  I haven't lost interest one bit.  It's like riding Disney's Space Mountain.  You can't see what's coming but it's fun as heck.

Act Three of the epic “Death Of Captain America” storyline begins right here, as Eisner-winning writer Ed Brubaker takes things from bad to worse for the new Captain America! Acclaimed artists Steve Epting and Jackson Guice join Brubaker for Captain America #37, as the Red Skull targets the very soul of America with his latest gambit! As James “Bucky” Barnes must adjust to the new mantle once worn by his mentor, he must also search for the kidnapped Sharon Carter—whose jaw dropping discovery last issue may change the entire direction of Captain America!

Named Marvel’s top series by IGN.Com, who gushed “Captain America has consistently defied modern superhero series conventions… We honestly feel sorry for you if you're missing out on this series,” this series continues to draw more acclaim with each issue.

Troy Brownfield of Newsarama.com said, “I’d like to see Brubaker complete his vision. And from where I sit, that vision continues to be smart, action-packed, well-considered, well-drawn, and just plain good comics.”

With the last three issues selling out quickly at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level), Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on all issues of Captain America. What does Red Skull have planned? Did Sharon Carter really see what she thought she saw? And can Bucky last as the new Captain America? Find out in Captain America #37!

This post relates to: Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale, Captain America, Bucky Barnes

Jeph Loeb has announced  at Wizard World LA that he and Tim Sale are teaming up again to do Captain America: White.  How great is that.  It's good that they haven't run out of colors yet.  I can't wait to see how this will turn out.

It's set to be six issues and will deal with what Bucky meant to Captain America.  How their relationship came about and grew during WWII.

Hot damn!

This post relates to: Captain America, Spider-Man

Another week, more new comics.  Of course we'll see the "new" Captain America this week.  Last issue pretty much already told us who it was going to be, or did it?  No Amazing Spidey this week unless you want to pick up the "Director's Cut."  I think I'll pass on that.  We do get "Spider-Man With Great Power" and Utlimate Spidey.  That's cool.  Mighty Avengers looks like it has a female Carnage.  I'm not too crazy about this symbiote war story but I do like seeing Mark Bagley's pencils.

DC will be giving us more of the Alpha Lanterns.  A flashback Batman tale?  Hopefully it will be something worthy and important, not just a filler issue with nothing really new.

And best of all, Image has another issue of Madman Atomic Comics!!

This post relates to: Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man

Okay the writer's strike sucks.  I'm sure we can all agree on that.  I get why it's happening.  People are entitle to what they're entitled to.  From a selfish point of view, it sucks.  But the good news, no great news, is Marvel Studios have come to some sort of agreement.  Read on for yourself:

Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced today that they have reached an interim comprehensive agreement that will put writers immediately back to work on the Marvel Studios development slate. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We're very excited about our summer releases, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, and look forward to resuming work with writers on our future projects including Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, and The Avengers,” said Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel.

“Marvel Studios' signing of an interim agreement with the Writers Guild is more good news for our membership,” said WGAE President Michael Winship and WGAW President Patric M. Verrone. “Marvel is committed to fairly compensating their writers and now they can move forward with their planned production schedule.”

I want more comic-based movies.  Let's hope things continue to go smoothly and we get some more great flicks to look forward to.

If you want to read the rest of the press release or want more information on the Writer's Guild of America, go to www.wga.org/subpage_newsevents.aspx

This post relates to: Spider-Man, Captain America

That's right.  Friday.  That's when this week's new comics come out.  I suppose it means more time you can actually spend with your familiy.  But it means two more days to wait to find out what happens with Spidey and MJ.  Two more days until the next chapter of Messiah CompleX (who is that dude on the cover, Bishop?).  Two more days until the issue before we find out who the new "Captain America" will be (check that cover, Bucky vs Iron Man!).  Two more days until the Spanish variant of Fantastic Four: Isla de la Muerte.  Oh well.  We'll survive, right.

This post relates to: Captain America, Iron Man, Bucky Barnes, Red Skull, Hawkeye, Union Jack

Smart money says it should be Bucky.  It makes the most sense.  It would be hard to see him working for Tony Stark.  He was just "captured" by Black Widow and Falcon.  Maybe Stark will show him Steve's letter about not letting the Captain America legacy die with him.  It would be his way to honor Steve.  He also wouldn't feel anyone else was worthy to be Captain America.

USAgent?  Been there, done that.

Tony Stark?  No.

Hawkeye (Ronin/Clint)?  He already turned down Tony Stark's offer.

Union Jack?  Uhm, why?  The name is Captain America.

Red Skull?  That Ed Brubaker can be pretty sneaky.

This post relates to: Mighty Avengers, X-Men, Captain America

Looks like a good week this week.  I'm looking forward to Captain America: The Chosen.  I dig David Morrell's writing.  I want to know how this is going to end.  I'm not so sure if I'm looking forward to Exiles.  Things are going to change.  Yes change can be good but is it really necessary?  Iron Fist is always good.  Mighty Avengers?  Feels like it's been a while since the last issue.  I'd rather this Ultron story end.  I've never really been a fan of Ultron.  Female Ultron?  What about Tony Stark?  He's supposed to be in there somewhere. The other weird thing is this was their first mission.  We've seen them in several other "adventures" since so we know things must work out.  Ah, the joy of continuity.   How come this wasn't such a problem years back?  Have comic universes become so big and complicated it's just too hard to keep up?  If so, how are we, the readers, supposed to keep up?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the creators on Mighty Avengers but it sort of takes some of the gas out of the balloon, ya know?  Anyways, all of this and another chapter in Messiah Complex.  It's going to be a nice knock down fight.

Hey there True Believers, here's your official list of comic books, collections and posters arriving in comic stores on December 19th, 2007. This post relates to: Ed Brubaker, Kevin Grevioux, Christos N. Gage, Marko Djurdjevic, Marc Silvestri, Captain America, Iron Man

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Marvel has been putting some talent into their What If...? titles lately.  They've usually been throwaway stories that didn't really "matter" that much.  I loved the original series way back.  These stories have been giving us a nice glimpse into what could've happened.  I have to admit I am surprised at everyone that they've got working on this one.  I just hope the story is good.  Too many times the writers have had their What If stories end with major deaths and destruction trying to show us that what actually happened was for the best.  I don't want them trying to say that Cap surrendering and eventually getting "killed" was better than what could have happened.  We'll find out next month.

The most controversial, most talked about series of 2006 was Civil War, in which the super human community was forever changed—but what if it all turned out differently? That question’s at the heart of the star studded What If? Civil War, exploring two different possible endings to the comic book epic, by writers Ed Brubaker (Captain America, Daredevil), Kevin Grevioux (New Warriors) and Christos Gage (World War Hulk: X-Men). Teamed with artists Mark Djudjevic, Gustavo and Harvey Talibao, this What If is a can’t-miss for Civil War fans—and it’s wrapped up in two covers, one by Marc Silvestri and a wraparound by Djurdjevic! And if those two covers didn’t have your jaws on the floor, wait till you see the special Djurdjevic sketch variant, showcasing the acclaimed artist’s cover work like you’ve never seen before!

Framed by Eisner-winning author Brubaker and acclaimed artist Djurdjevic, two stories take you on unforgettable paths through the possibilities of Civil War. In the first story, by Grevioux and Gustavo, Captain America unites all the heroes against Registration while Henry Gyrich takes the Registration Act into his own hands—with terrifying results! The second story, by Gage and Talibao, explores the consequences of Iron Man losing the war and how it affects the entire Marvel Universe! Democracy is put to the test—and through its paces—in this timely political tale.

“What If? Civil War continues to explore the political issues the original series tackled,” explained Editor Justin F Gabrie. “Both of the stories within are meant to go in completely separate directions, hopefully in ways you wouldn’t expect.”

We’ve all seen what happened to the Marvel Universe in the wake of Captain America’s death—but could that tragedy have been avoided? Could there be a happy ending to the event that tore apart the Marvel Universe? Only one comic has the answers and it’s called What If? Civil War, the extra-sized issue that fulfills your Civil War withdrawal!
