Bucky's Trial Begins In This Issue

Bucky Barnes as the new Captain America is on trial for his acts against the United States while brainwashed as the Winter Soldier.

    The Good

It's so hard to figure out what Ed Brubaker has in store for Bucky Barnes. He's the one that brilliantly brought Bucky back from the dead, something no one thought could happen. With Bucky becoming Captain America, even after Steve Rogers returned from the dead, Brubaker's continued to keep Bucky in the spotlight. Despite all this, I don't feel Bucky is completely safe. The fact that Bucky was brainwashed and has done great things as Captain America should be enough to win his case. Brubaker and Sin (the Red Skull's daughter) won't let it be that easy.

Besides the writing, Butch Guice's pencils and Bettie Breitweiser's colors really adds a great feel to the comic. It's good to know that Marvel is treating this story right by making sure a great creative team is on board.

I haven't been too crazy about the back up stories with Rikki Barnes but maybe it's just her being with cool as a cucumber Black Widow that is making me gain some respect for her.

    The Bad

Does the fact that I don't like the situation Bucky's in count as a negative mark towards the comic? Seriously though, the story arc's been pretty solid but it feels like it should step things up a tiny bit. This is part 3 and we're just seeing the beginning of the trial. In regards to the Rikki Barnes story, the art worked most of the time. Black Widow really looks tough and mysterious but there were moments where Rikki's thumbs and feet looked really weird.

    The Verdict

I haven't heard or seen a lot of talk about this story arc. This is a big deal and people shouldn't overlook it. With Red Skull out of the picture (at least for now), Sin is stepping up to become a crazy and deadly villain. It makes sense that Steve has passed the torch to Bucky and now Sin has taken it from her father. Brubaker continues to craft the tale of Bucky Barnes. Regardless of all the time he's spent bringing Bucky back and establishing him as Captain America, I don't feel he's completely safe. That's part of what makes this a good story arc. The art and color adds to the story and I have no idea how it's going to end.

      Sins of the past 0

There´s still a long way ahead for Bucky´s redemption and absolution, and he must face a windy stormy road, from hell and above, but at least he´s got his friends behind him all the way and he´s going to need them, because when Sin is making her moves to help prosecution put Bucky behind bars for life, in the charge of acts of terrorism. Terror is an old acquaintence of Sin´s and her daddy´s, and Brubaker releases right doses of action using Sin´s plans to smear Bucky´s rep and at the same time ...
