What was the story, anyway?
The whole Captain America title(s) seem stalled and lost. I love Steve Epting's art and I have been quite impressed with the art in the Reborn miniseries. But the writing has been kinda rough. Gene Colon's #601 should have been a one-shot or an annual.... the Bucky as Cap'n never seems to have really caught. The Reborn miniseries seems like its being released at a snail's pace and I am forgetting that Captain America is a book on my pull list.
This issue was okay - finally some answers from the "Professors" (Pym and Richards). They just go ahead matter-of-factly state the situation, as if its nothing complex. I loved the entrance of Skull to Latveria. And Doom is absolutely priceless, as usual. Making Doom seem dull and flat will definitely make me hate a writer. However, reading through this issue, I more or less forgot about the storyline. The art, in my opinion, is really cool. Lots of pin-up type shots of Doom, Captain, etc. Colorful and vibrant images, neat angles and sizing, too. I'm giving this issue 4 stars - the bulk of the goodness coming from the art.
