Cammie appears in issue eight of the Drawn & Quarterly comic book series, Optic Nerve.

Cammie was created by Adrian Tomine.

Character Evolution

Cammie is a high school student and a friend of Scotty - the pair work together at the same diner after school. She is wilder and more adventurous than the other girls, who see her as a "slut". As a result, she does not have many friends. She fools around with Bryan, but comes to hate him after an ugly incident between the two teens at a house party. At the party, Cammie gets drunk, dancing on a table and flashing her underwear. She then passes out and defecates. When Bryan finds out, he carries her into the bathroom, removes her underwear, and cleans her up in the shower before making sure she gets medical attention. Cammie does not know this, and assumes it was Bryan who called the other guests over to look at her, half naked and passed out. This sours things between them, and Cammie is later humiliated in front of the other students when Bryan and his friends pelt her with toilet paper while she is giving a speech.

Cammie has a tough time at home and while she does not discuss this often, toward of the book she confides in Scotty that she, along with her mother and brother, may be moving to another town and leaving her father. She and Scotty have a typical teenage friendship, and while they tell each other secrets and have a lot of fun together, the two are also prone to bickering and sulking.
