Calie Liddle

Return to Wonderland

After Carroll Ann Liddle (Calie for short), found her mother trying to commit suicide and at that point, the Liddle family fell apart. Alice's sanity left her, her only anchor to the real world was a white rabbit, Calie's younger brother Johnny showed all the signs of being a psychopath and her father Lewis began a S&M affair with a prostitute behind the family's back. Calie became a substance-abusing party-girl who wishes she could "leave this world behind". One day after school Calie comes home to find her mother hiding in the closet after losing the rabbit. Calie went to find the rabbit and fell down a hole in the basement.  Upon entering wonderland, believing that she is dreaming, Calie starts exploring where she soon discovers a world of gruesome horror.  After a few encounters with wonderlands more interesting inhabitants, she befriends a cloaked figure.  Back in the real world, the rest of the little family find Alcie in the basement staring at the whole which now does not lead to wonderland but is instead occupied by the body of the mutilated white rabbit.  Back in wonderland, Calie, after a few more encounters with wonderland creatures, including being chased through a forest by the Cheshire Cat, discovers a house which is occupied by the Madd Hatter.  After a not so pleasant diner with him, Calie kills the Hatter and heads back into the forest wince she came all the while embracing more and more of the “essence” that is wonderland.  Next we see Calie encounter a group of Spade guards painting white roses red with blood.  Upon her discovery, they take her prisoner and attempt to execute her but are all instead executed by the not so stable Queen of Hearts.  Back in the real world, Calie’s father’s S&M mistress comes to the Liddle house and is seen by Johnny entering the house with his father.  Later that evening, unknown to Calie’s father, Alcie catches the two.  Afterward, as the prostitute drives away, she is killed by Johnny who was hiding in the backseat of her car.  Next we see Johnny’s father going to bed with Alice.  Unbeknownst to all, is Alice’s grip on reality is slipping away.  Back in wonderland Calie is starting to realize just how demented the Queen of Hearts really is.  After winning at a game, the Queen becomes upset and orders Calie’s death.  Calie, however, will not go without a fight and attempts to eat some of the mushroom that makes her gigantic.  William, the suicide king, intervenes, stopping Calie before she can eat the mushroom.  We also find out from William that Alice had visited wonderland in the past.  Enter the Cheshire Cat who does what he does best, eats everyone and Calie is next.  We then find Johnny burying the head of the prostitute with the body of the mutilated white rabbit when a very much alive yet twisted rabbit confronts him.  Back in wonderland, Calie is getting a not so cordial introduction from the Cheshire Cat.  As luck would have it, Calie is saved by none other than the Queen of Hearts, or at least what is left of her.  It turns out that the Queen of Hearts is in fact conjoined twins and the Cat only ripped them in half, killing only one of the sisters.  This kind of agitates the Queen who orders her red soldiers to bring her the head of the Cat which only offers up a smorgus board to the Cat, who then turns his sights back to Calie.  As the Cat goes to finish his meal, out chops an axe from his insides.  Apparently the Cat had eaten the cloaked stranger whole and now the stranger wanted out.  The stranger is in fact Lacie, a part of Alice who is forever trapped in wonderland.  Lacie warns Calie of wonderland and then returns her to the real world.  Calie wakes up at school and rushes home to find that everyone thought she had ran away.  Later that night, Alice is woken up by the mutilated rabbit who instructs her that “it’s time”.  She then kisses her family good bye as they sleep and hangs herself.  Calie wakes up to the sobbing of Johnny who discovered Alice.  After Alice’s funeral, Calie meets up with Charles Dodgson, her grandfather, who tells her the tell of how wonderland came to be.  He tells her that wonderland requires a sacrifice from the Liddle family in order to keep it at bay.  This disturbs her and upon returning home, she finds Johnny covered in blood and her father brutally murdered by Johnny.  Calie now has a choice, let the police take Johnny away for life or take him somewhere where they would never find him.  She chooses to send him to wonderland.  After pushing him through the looking glass, Calie smashes it with a bat.  We last see her, now pregnant, with her boyfriend, Brandon, leaving town.
