Anybody else think that Wolverine looks like he should be holding a beer bottle and a TV remote in that picture?
Cable
Character » Cable appears in 3590 issues.
The once-mysterious Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) is Cyclops' time-traveling son who was infected with the deadly techno-organic virus during his infancy, which he keeps at bay using his advanced psionic powers. At one time a founding member and leader of the militant team called X-Force, previously known as the New Mutants, Cable takes the aimless youths under his wing and whips them into fighting shape in order to prepare them for future threats.
Cable Returns This December In 'Avengers: X-Sanction'
This just seems unnecessary to me. I can understand someone like Captain America coming back quick, but Cable is not that essential to the Marvel universe, and bringing him back so quickly is unneeded.
Seriously, how many people have been clamoring for Cable to come back? He had a powerful death scene, why can't they just let things be for a while.
I am excited to see Cable come back. I really started to like his character during Second Coming. Can't wait to see Hope's reactopn when she see's Cable is alive.
Huh... how can they 'explain' his return? How could he have survived? The techno organic virus engulfed him and he was obliterated. How could he survive that? I hate comic book logic. I hate writers who ignore things and ruin past storylines just because they want to do something stupid with a character.
uggghhh, loeb & mcguiness is a team-up from the bowels of Mephisto himself......if this is written the way loeb has gone about things lately, its gonna go something like this: cable did die, but this is a future version who time travels to this exact moment in order to stop the red hulk from using Hope to absorb the phoenix force. instead, rulk absorbs cable's energy in order to become.....Culk. he's a techno-organic hulk who has the phoenix force and he will proceed to give Eternity a wedgie. all the while, mcguiness will draw every character as if they just got out of the gym where they were injecting mutant steroids into themselves. so....many...muscles.....that being said, i do like Cable, and although this is real early for his return, his character is a time traveler, which is like being unkillable in comics. maybe they will actually use this as a proper stepping stone to whatever they have planned for the avengers next. did any future versions of cable have knowledge of the Ultron War?? perhaps....seems like that battle is one that Bendis has been planting seeds for some time now.

@LB70145Damn straight. Not a fan of McGuiness. Hate Loeb and its way too soon for his return. This is going to be stupid. I already can tell.
Seriously when I thought Schism was the bottom of the barrel for modern X Events....gotta give it to'em they sure know how to ratchet up the levels of ridiculous stupidity.
And on top of that, we have how many events going on right now? With how many more proposed? Schism and Fear Itself aren't even over with and they're all ready teasing Regenesis, X-Sanction and Shattered Heroes? That's ridiculous.@The Dark Huntress said:

I think this cable shops for armor & weapons in Gears of War Universe. He must be a relative of Dom or sumthing
Instead of saying that Marvel is wasting time and effort with making another event, I want any Marvel die-hard here (representatives of Marvel included) to convince me, sincerely convince me why I should CARE about this mini-series, without having to mention Schism (waste of reading) or Fear Itself (overrated comic event of the summer).
Good luck.
After seeing the 'Cable Returns' teaser I was pretty annoyed that they would be bringing Cable back only a year after his death.
But now I just don't care. Cable rules.
Honestly, I knew this was going to happen, but I kind of wished that it hadn't.
Cable died giving himself over to the techno-organic virus in 'Second Coming' and getting torn apart from that time portal-thingy. Heck, IIRC, he died with a smile on his face, while looking at Hope Summers. Why did Marvel have to go and screw up such a noble, heroic sacrifice?
That last question was rhetorical, by the way.

For a second there I thought he lost his arm but I see now that he's pointing a gun straight forward. Which X-Men team will he be in? or is he gonna join Avengers? I don't want that. That would be berry dumb.
In a nutshell: Too many events, too soon after each other, Cable too quickly resurrected, too big a gun and too close a resemblance to the Terminator...too much! I agree with those who are saying that Marvel should just allow the characters (and readers) six months of non-event stories. Or have Marvel's writers forgotten how to write such stories? I'm not convinced it's a matter of greed on Marvel's part, but rather a preoccupation of "big" stories and a selfish desire on the part of writers to put their mark on the characters and the Universe in general.
That said, I'm (excitedly) waiting for the return of the Phoenix Force in 2012...'cause regardless of the consequences of Children's Crusade, nothing short of the Phoenix could jump start the mutant (sub)species, and would also be important enough a threat to involve the Avengers. I don't know how Hope will be involved with that, but I am pretty darn sure she will be, most likely as the next avatar/incarnation of the Cosmic Raptor. Marvel can only hold on to that tease of Hope being the savior/detroyer for so long until they have to play that card....
Cable's new arm is badass as well as his more rugged look. Glad to see he's picking off the Avengers but did anyone notice who's missing from the Avengers: Tanarus. I'm figuring Tanarus will be a roadblock for him. To test Tanarus & to see what new tricks Cable learned. Plus I hope he turns on Hope for siding with Shaw & join the Gold Team.

Tanarus isnt joining the Avengers
F*$# yeah thats what im talking about, favorite comics character ever, could give a crap less about the naysayer.
so schism is going to to divide the mutants and put them in bad sight to the rest of the world? if the avengers are coming in as the result of schism its the only thing i could think off which puts the world back to fearing mutants even more.cool

she is right to early
I swear Marvel, one of these days ...
I was pretty pissed when I first heard that Cable was coming back so soon. He's been one of my favorite charecters for years and I was pretty sad when he died. I still think bringing him back so soon is cheap, but this sounds pretty damned cool to me!
I have been enjoying the mash up of Avengers and X-men, (and I've always wanted the Scarlet Witch join the X-Family...especially with her coming back into the fold and being able to give mutants back their power...from a writing prospective I think there is a huge amount of untapped potential there) and while I know a lot of people out there have a hate on for Bendis, I think that House of M was one of The Best events - and I've always loved Cable...what I find interesting about all the comments, is that everyone assumed (since the X-Men did, that Cable was dead. (much in the same manner that everyone assumes Human Torch is dead...) I've always said unless you see the body, ripped in several pieces - don't believe anyone in the Marvel Universe is dead (and obviously sometimes that's not enough). When I saw Cable disappear into the time portal ripping out his arm - I instantly thought - that he could have survived that, he's survived a lot worse...Loeb has been hit or miss - I actually liked Ultimatum (don't mind killing characters in the Ultimate Universe...and actually think it gives it a little more validity than the Marvel one - with Heroes line of work, it's amazing that more aren't killed in action...How ever the Hulk was horrible, also wasn't a fan of McGuinness - but perhaps he's stepped up his game...I've posted this earlier, I think the 2012 event is going to be dealing with these Omega class mutants/Phoenix force...
I really loved Cable. And his death was fantastic; the way he sacrificed himself, the way he smiled at Hope before dying.
I really hoped that they wouldn't resurrect Cable, or at least not this quickly. I didn't want him to be yet another pointless death.
Why does Cable look like he just got done fighting the Locust Horde from GOW? And did anyone else notice that somehow, Wolverines Adamantium skeleton has been pierced by rebar? I know it's just a promo, but still...
