Plot Summary
The sequel to 2007’s MESSIAH COMPLEX continues here! “Messiah War,” the much-anticipated sequel to “Messiah
CompleX,” continues here! For the first time, Cable’s been separated from the girl he’s sworn to raise and protect — Hope, the so-called “Mutant Messiah” — and now she’s in the hands of his greatest enemy! Meanwhile, X-Force, sent by Cyclops on a desperate rescue mission to the deep future, scrambles to find their way out of a trap that will kill them in matter of hours. And if that’s not enough, an old — some might say ancient — enemy of the X-men reared his ugly head one last time.

Times passing, but that doesn't mean the story is.

See, I don't usually pick up too many things I finish reading and go "That was a waste of my 15 minutes." This may have been one of them. I really don't have any affection towards the art, which doesn't help the fact that this was a dry issue. Some stuff happened, Bishop tries to kill Hope like he's been doing for the last 13 issues of Cable. Cable tries to save Hope, which he's been doing for the last 13 issue of Cable. And Deadpool confuses the hell out of people, like he's been doing for the last 18 years.
I really didn't enjoy this issue. There is a twist at the end that fits the characters involved, but beyond that I really don't have a solid reason to want to read this or even recommend it. I've felt fairly good about Messiah War overall, but I think this is really becoming a case of when crossovers work best once their completed. So I guess maybe picking up the rest of the crossover and reading the rest when it's done might be my best opinion.
Don't pick this up if you're a new reader. If you're reading Messiah War, I guess you've picked up and already finished reading it.
