During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
The once-mysterious Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) is Cyclops' time-traveling son who was infected with the deadly techno-organic virus during his infancy, which he keeps at bay using his advanced psionic powers. At one time a founding member and leader of the militant team called X-Force, previously known as the New Mutants, Cable takes the aimless youths under his wing and whips them into fighting shape in order to prepare them for future threats.

Wade Wilson is a former test subject of the Weapon X program, where he received his regenerative healing factor through the scientific experiments conducted upon him. A prominent enemy, ally and later, member of X-Force. He's famous for breaking the Fourth Wall.
One of the very first mutants, Apocalypse is both thousands of years old and a monstrous tyrant that has been a longtime foe of the X-Men. Apocalypse believes that only the strongest (whether mutant or superhuman) should survive. His body is a mix of organics and powerful celestial technology, boosting his shapeshifting and other powers to god-like levels.
Deadpool's friend/henchman, technology expert and weapons dealer. More recently he wanted revenge against Deadpool for being a lousy friend. He was killed and, in the afterlife, struck a deal with Mephisto as Patient Zero.
A slave of Apocalypse. He serves mostly as a scribe and Apocalypse's right hand man but has also schemed against his master. In modern times he has become the unoffical leader of the Clan Akkaba.

Black Box, formerly known as Commcast, is a cyberpath who used to work with Cable.
Prester John was a former crusader, chronicler of Avalon, and served as Cable's director of security on Providence during the events of Cable/Deadpool.
Citizen V is a legendary hero that spans generations. The name has not only spread throughout a family but was also used by other people including superheroes, and even super-villains.
