    Synopsis

800 years ago, Dane Whitman, in the body of the Black Night named Eobar Garrington, owner of the Ebony Blade, entombs a threat.

In the present day, the threat reemerges from the tomb. Having previously escaped and then defeated, he returned to the tomb to recover. He feels that now is the time to leave again and find the sustenance required to restore his powers.

Elsewhere, Cable flies through the Swiss Alps musing on the mysterious person who is like him but not him. He experiences a psionic jolt and thinks he sees an alternate version of Cyclops. The pain subsides and he continues on his way, afraid that the psionic display is a result of him getting closer to the other person.

Down below, Nate Grey experiences a similar psionic jolt. He sees, however, the images of Slym and Redd, Cable's adoptive (if not real) parents. Once the jolt subsides, Threnody helps Nate to safety, which is Cable's safe house in the Alps. Nate is surprised to see a photo of a man resembling himself, albeit older.

Outside, Cable confronts the fact that Blaquesmith has been following him. He asks him to stay back and enters the cabin to talk with Nate. Nate, as he is accustomed to doing, immediately attacks. Cable lowers his mental defenses for a moment so that Nate can scan his mind, but this backfires, as all Nate sees is connections to Professor Xavier, Moira MacTaggart, and Mr. Sinister. Blaquesmith arrives, which only angers Nate more. He blows up the house as a means of escape.

From a distance, Exodus, the once-buried threat, soaks in the psionic energies and feels his own powers being restored.
