    Synopsis

After a brief psionic trip to the past, Cable returns to the present. The X-Men have gathered to see if Cable was able to find Storm, Psylocke, Iceman, and Bishop (who are lost some twenty years in the past after following Legion), but Cable is unsure of what he was able to do. Professor Xavier enters Cable's mind and learns that Cable did in fact contact Bishop and that a message was delivered. Gambit is the first to note that this could mean nothing, as they have no way of knowing if the simple contact was enough to help the missing teammates thwart Legion's plan - whatever the plan happens to be. Things begin to get dicey, but this is broken up when Lilandra appears to inform the group that the universe is being crystalized and broken, which means that things are likely not going well in the past. With only an hour or so of time left, several of the group have some poignant interactions:

    • Beast questions his focus on science, having sacrificed much of a personal life. Angel approaches him and lifts Beast's spirits by thanking him for being such a good friend.
    • Rogue tries to get Gambit to open up to her about his hopes for a family, but he shoots down her query knowing full well that time is short.
    • Professor Xavier muses about fate and if he has made any difference in the world. Cyclops and Jean remind him that their lives are the result of Xavier's work.
    • Cable attempts to have a moment with Domino, but she writes him off as joking in the face of oblivion. He is then approached by Cyclops and Jean who inform him that they were his adoptive parents in the future. They are surprised to learn that Cable already knew; the three embrace as a more connected family. Domino then approaches and finally admits that she has feelings for Cable. The two kiss.

The Professor ushers the group together and tells them that he will miss them. Earth is then crystalized. Everyone and everything shatters.
