Good, By Comparison
This issue is number 2 of 3 in a an arc called Fear and Loathing. My thoughts on having read the arc: this issue was the best, though oddest. The first issue was the story of Cable meeting Lee Forrester, which wasn't as cool as would be hoped. Very little was devoted to the two finding their common link (ties to Cyclops). Vague references that never went anywhere was about as detailed as it got. The fight with Senyaka wasn't necessary. Ends up as a filler issue.
This issue was the second of the arc and dealt with showing the reader some of the most traumatic events in the lives of the two. Had this been the only reason for Lee and Cable to meet then it would have been really cool. D'Spayre played his part well, as the demon that could suck the hope right out of our heroes. This could have been a cool issue on its own simply because Cable admits that he has fear but doesn't allow it to control him. We see character growth.
Sadly, the arc didn't end here. The third issue had something to do with the Nexus of All Realities being torn apart and Cable being the only one to stop it from happening. Lame and unnecessary ending to this arc. Know this, however, this second issue was very strong for its part.
