Being that this is my first time at C2E2, I am unsure of what to expect, but already I have heard some really great things about it. Some of the show's guests of honor include Alex Ross, Tony Daniel, Neil Gaiman and Garth Ennis. But wait, there is much, much more! J. Scott Campbell, Daniel Way, and Skottie Young will also be in attendance. Honestly, there are far too many incredible people to list, so be sure to check out the list of creators that are scheduled to attend the show. While not on the same scale as Comic Con International in San Diego; C2E2 will feature all of the publishing houses-- that means Marvel will be in there-- so we can expect to see a lot of news from throughout the industry to come out of this con.
C2E2 seems to be on a much smaller scale than Comic Con International, but it is still really big. The best part? Looking at the panels and list of creators scheduled to appear, you get the sense that at it's core, C2E2 is really about comic books. There really are not enough shows like that anymore. SDCC is enormous; and while it is fantastic to have so many events, people, premiers, and exclusives to come out of one massive cultural show-- it is a frenzy. It is nearly impossible to maneuver the show floor, and what's more, it is a far less personal experience. At WonderCon, I had the chance to sit down and talk to a lot of creators I personally admire, and that is what truly made the show "worth it." WonderCon doesn't suck out every ounce of your life force-- San Diego will do that. While it was unfortunate that Marvel did not really have a presence at WonderCon (they did not have a booth,) it was good to see DC Comics show up in full force, bringing their big guns an it was also great to see publishers like Top Cow, Image, and IDW represent. I have high hopes for C2E2, and I am looking forward to covering the event for all of you guys, so be sure to let Tony and I know what you would to see and what panels you want us to cover!
