Bug is an escapee from the Asylum for the Criminally Disorganised, located on Planet 32A-28/delta1 in the Universe of Order 3. He is green skinned, four armed and naive, considered to be insane on his native planet due to his penchant for breaking rules with impunity. Bug eludes capture by his psychiatrist and several large robotic orderlies through a Portal - a talking door that whisks him away to another universe... the Universe of Summation. Earth. Melbourne, Australia, to be precise...
It transpires that in crossing between universes, Bug has done something very, very bad... and now the Universal alignment is out of kilter. This could mean the end of everything... unless he gets back to his own universe.
Bug is partnered with the diminutive Stump, who seems to be trying to protect him from harm - whilst constantly having to restrain himself from harming Bug himself. With limited success. There's a lot of fighting.
It should be pointed out that Bug continues to wear the straightjacket he was wearing when he escaped from the asylum, entirely due to the difficulty in finding shirts with four sleeves on Earth in the right size.
He doesn't know if he's upper left handed, upper right handed, lower left handed or lower right handed. In fact, he doesn't seem to know much at all.
Bug actually first appeared in a regular strip in the student newspaper Lots' Wife, along with Stump. The pair actually made their first comic book appearance in a six page story done quickly for the Australian anthology title Issue One #5 in February 1993, but their regular series was already in production at that time, appearing in May 1993.
