ok, firstly this isn't a rant lol, so actually think about this...
I was just watching season 5 of Buffy (Glory, Dawn and whatever), and something that Quentin Travers said puzzled me...
in the episode where Quentin comes to Sunnydale to inform Buffy about Glory's God status he tells his Giles that a vampire nest in Africa was taken care of by the 'usual methods'...
Now unless this was a continuity error, what does the 'usual methods' mean?
Buffy was in Sunnydale dealing with Glory and Faith was in prison during this time, so that's the two Slayers taken care of, so what are the 'usual methods' that the Watchers Council used to take care of this threat?
Could it be that The Slayers aren't the usual methods for the Watchers Council to deal with threats like this?
we know they have their own 'strike teams', so is it possible that The Slayer is only used by the Watchers Council as a diversion so that the major bad guys (The Master, Angelus, Glory... and so on..) always go for The Slayer, leaving the Council's strike teams to deal with the usual vampire threats in the world on their own terms?
in that case it brings a whole new meaning to The Chosen One and probably explains the limited life span of The Slayer and why The Council refuses to let The Slayer have a normal life with family, friends, or to back up The Slayer with weapons or a trained Strike Team to back her up during her battles.
Also worrying is that Giles seemed to know about this...
