A Worthy End to the First Season
The final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's first season epitomizes what made the first season great. Snappy dialogue, humor, scares and character development. Basically the prophecy they've been hinting at all season about the Hellmouth opening and The Master emerging all comes to pass - on prom night, no less.
This episode, like all of Season 1, seems kind of quaint and naive by the standards of even this show in its later seasons. But the charm is undeniable, for all the practical and very early digital effects. A worth end to the first season.
