Batman, Batman, and (at some point in the future) Batman.
The Good: I love the idea of The White Casebook.
Bruce's little analysis of Dick and Damien is really interesting. We finally get to see how Bruce would react.
The use of Tommy Elliot to throw off Vicki Vale has been done before, but it was better here, and even gave a little touch upon House of Hush. It could just be me but his portrayal here seemed closer to how he is now in House of Hush, which is great.
Damien's questioning of Dick being thrown back in his face was hilarious and excellent.
Tim and Bruce's dialogue was the best dialogue in the issue.
The Bad: Seriously? You have a connecting cover image to span 8 issues and you come up with this? Each character in some fairly normal pose with a bunch of bats and some watercolor in the background? HUGE WASTE OF CONNECTING COVER IMAGE.
I'm just not a fan of Cliff Richard's art. Everything looks all grainy and it annoys me.
Unlike all the other Road Home's The Insider had no direct interaction with the main characters here. It seems odd that he could judge BATMAN AND ROBIN without fighting them himself but need to fight everyone else to test them, or at least get a close up look at them.
All of Damien's character development seems to have been reset back to 0. He was just as bratty as when he started out. This is especially strange when THE WRITER OF THIS VERY ISSUE WROTE SOME OF HIS BETTER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Seriously, what's up with that?
Bruce questioning whether or not enjoyment instead of obsession is a good thing? Like you have to ask that? Every Robin he's had was SUPPOSED to be happy to BALANCE OUT HIS OWN OBSESSION.
In Conclusion: 3/5
This is pretty good, it's a nice start to The Road Home, but there's a lot of character inconstancies that throw the whole thing off. Cliff Richard's art is pretty bland and gritty, but the story is the driving force in this issue. And the story is pretty good.
