Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants

Original Team

The original Brotherhood of Evil mutants appeared in X-men #4 that was published in March of 1964. It members included Magneto (the leader), Toad, Mastermind, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Scarlet Witch felt obligated to remain with Magneto because he had saved her from an angry mob that was intent on killing her. Quicksilver, her brother, served Magneto begrudgingly while Scarlet Witch felt obligated to do so.

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

Original

Early in his war against humanity, Magneto organized a small band of mutants to go into combat at his side. Since the world had branded him a criminal, Magneto defiantly named his team of accomplices " The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants."

The most subservient of the group was Toad, named both for his grotesque apperance and his superhuman leaping ability. There was also Mastermind, who could mentally create utterly convincing illusions.

Lastly , there was Quicksilver, who could move at superhuman speed, and his sister, the Scarlet Witch, who could alter probability at will. Neither Magneto nor the two siblings knew at the time that he was actually their father by his estranged wife Magda.

Time, and again, the Brotherhood clashed with the original X-Men, until Magneto was captured by an extraterrestrial being known as Stranger.

Tired of Magneto's war, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch soon joined the Avengers Super Hero team. Magneto later reorganized the Brotherhood three more times, adding new members such as Blob, Unus, and Lorelei, before abandoning the concept entirely.

Mystiques Brotherhood

Subsequently, the mutant terrorist Mystique formed her own Brotherhood. Mystique's team included her close friend Destiny, a blind mutant who could foretell the future; Avalanche, Pyro, and the Blob.

Later on, several mutant super-villains attempted to create their own versions of the team. Notable incarnations include Toad's Brotherhood, comprised of Blob, Pyro and Sauron; Xorn's Brotherhood, which incorporated Beak, Angel Salvatore, Basilisk, Ernst, and No-Girl, all of them students from the Xavier Institute's Special Class whom defected Xorn after he accidentally killed Basilisk; and Exodus's Brotherhood, which featured Black Tom Cassidy, Mammomax, Avalanche, Sabretooth and the moles Juggernaut and Nocturne.

At the beginning of the Young X-Men series, a new Brotherhood is lead by Lord Imperial aka Sunspot and is comprised of the former New Mutants, Cannonball, Magma, and Moonstar.

Alternate realities

Earth-295

In the Age of Apocalypse reality, the Brotherhood of the Chaos was made up of members Arclight, Box, Copycat, Spyne, and Yeti. The five mutants were sent by Apocalypse to intercept the X-Men and stop them from safely evacuating humans at the Great Sentinel Airlift. Thanks to Box's mutant powers, they were able to scramble the Sentinels' circuitry and rewire them to target the X-Men. In the confusion, Box and Copycat were able to escape, though the remaining three Brotherhood members were subdued. Box and Copycat were not able to enjoy freedom for very long, though, as they were later found and killed by Wolverine and Jean Grey.

Earth-1610

Ultimate Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy

In the Ultimate universe the Brotherhood is called Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy. The original members were: Magneto (leader), Mastermind, Blob, Toad, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

After Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch joined the Ultimates new members were: Destiny, Vanisher, Unus, Madrox, Rogue, Forge, Sabretooth, Juggernaut and Hard-Drive. After breaking Magneto out of the super-human prison known as the Triskelion, Longshot appears to join the team.

They later appear in the Ultimates 3, with some changes in the roster, such as the addition of nwe members Lorelei and, oddly enough, Venom.

Earth-2182

In Nocturne's home reality the Brotherhood lineup was: Cyclops (leader), Rogue, Blob, Radioactive Man, Hyve, White Dwarf and Beast (Not Henry McCoy).

Earth-12

On Earth-12 the Brotherhood were: Quicksilver, Toad, Blob, Scarlet Witch and Mimic.

Earth-5423

On Earth-5423 the Brotherhood were: The Big M (Mimic), Mystique, Destiny, Pyro, Avalanche and Blob. They all later reformed and started a new school for mutants.
