Nice work Babs.
Yea, Hawkman/Hawkwoman er, girl is pretty convoluted stuff so I can understand why it turns off some people but I think this issue streamlined the concept of those two.
Good work on the review, Babs. Your passion for the characters and the story shows. It's good to feel something for a story. It's when you stop caring is when things start looking bad.
I get the concept behind an eternal, timeless love. It sounds romantic, but I also find the idea a bit depressing. It's as if they are together, because that's just the way it is. Rather than being together by their own personal choice. I'm not trying to claim that they don't want it.
I still like Kendra far more than Shiara. The fact that people seem to feel the need to keep resetting everything back to the way things used to be. I man, Berry Allan's back, Hal Jordan returned. Aunt may is alive for the umteenth time, Spider-Man's marriage and stories were pretty much retconned back to the 80's. Somehow it's like the characters are simply not allowed to change or progress. Anyway, I've always been a big Kendra fan and now that she's gone, I really don't like hawkgirl anymore. Still, I might pick up this issue just because I kinda dropped the series when it was jumping around and now really getting anywhere in the story plot. The comic has a feel of a whole lot of filler. But this seems like it might actually contribute to a storyline so, I'll give it a chance and swallow my hatred of Shiara.
" @Mumbles: I hear DC has a new Hawkman series in the works. James Robinson is supposed to be writing it. "Robinson does a really excellent job in humanizing relationships in comics. He has a really good eye for grounding moments in reality that make you believe the passion between characters. That's hard to do.
" @longbowhunter said:Agree and it would make Babs probably becoming a bigger fan of Hawkman." @Mumbles: I hear DC has a new Hawkman series in the works. James Robinson is supposed to be writing it. Although the Hawks story has been one of the weaker ones in Brightest Day (along with Martian Manhunter until #12, and Hawk and Dove who still haven't really done much), as a Hawkman fan I've enjoyed their appearances in the series. I moreorless agree with Babs on this review, but
I still wonder what's going on in the grand scheme of things in BD, the part i guess is about Deadman and his quest to find....something?
The rest just seems to be 5-6 seperate mini-series with litte or no connection to each other.
"What a bitch" LOL Love it. I agree. The art is flipping pure awesomeness. I was reading the reviews attached to the Brightest Day 13 page and they weren't so good. I loved it! I don't get it. I'm really loving what Johns is doing and the art is to die for. Great review.
