    As advertised, Aquawar kicks off in what is Brightest Day's strongest storyline. Aquaman and the new Aqualad try to prevent an invasion from the Bermuda Triangle, and it increasingly appears that they are on the losing side.  Aquaman has been a real treat in this series. He is portrayed as a powerful and imposing figure, despite being treated as a side character or a joke for so many years. Here, you can believe he is one of the DC Universe's top heroes. He does not read like the Superman or Bat...

    In the face of Aqualad's questioning, Aquaman's hesitates on how to properly deal with a resurfaced Mera and Black Manta.  The Good Good lord, are there some pretty pages in this issue! Ivan Reis is an absolute phenom and the splashes of Mera's beachhead assault and Aquaman's maiming are just jaw-dropping in their thorough detail and elegant curve.      Scans and summary can be viewed hereThe Good Great cover art showcasing a brilliantly devilish Black Manta. Art as usual remains consistently good. The Aquawar finally begins in this issue. I liked the dialogue between our Aqua duo. This issue also had a good amount of action and a sneak peak of power in Jackson such as lightning which is unique to only him. It’s also suggested that his connection to the Bermuda triangle may not be the only abilities he has. Black Manta got some killer line...
