Deadman living.
Brightest Day #14
I believe that we have all been waiting for this issue. Batman as the White Lantern. I think that scene of Batman as the White Lantern is pretty iconic but I feel this issue was much more than Batman. This issue is a revelation for Boston Brand, which I really did enjoy. As I was reading this issue it did give off a cliche feeling when Boston was in his revelation. It was kind of It's A Wonderful Life thing that it gave off. True meaning is revealed in this issue and more plots are open. Also a really unexpected romance appears in this issue.
The Good!
What I really enjoyed about this issue was the character development of Boston. It was really incredible especially when we saw his past and what he regrets. One thing that really stuck out to me was when he watched himself die. I think that is a major concept that no one wants to go through. I feel like that was a deep concept and it was written very well. Batman's scene was short but powerful. I thought it was very good. The other great part of this issue was the art. It is frikin fantastic! Tomasi is a genious! The cover was just so iconic and great. David Finch's art of Batman is so great.
The Bad!
I'm not too big on cliches so once I felt that the story was leading towards cliche I was a little turned off but only a little. The only other thing I didn't like was that this issue only focused on Boston, Dove, and Batman.
The Conclusion!
This issue definitely made a great impression. I really enjoyed it and I say pick it up! 4.5 out of 5!
